History and Culture of Changzhou Economic Development Zone in Jiangsu Province

According to historical records, in the sixth year of Yuanyou (191), Furong Lake was governed, and the weir was opened and the sluice was placed. Later, people with the surname of Qi built houses and settled down beside the Grand Canal, and they made a fortune. "The real family of Qi began to live in a house, because they lived in a villa", and the word "Qishu" came from this. It has long been called Qishu Port, the "weir". The embankment is also located in Wujin. The main commercial city in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties was Fangzhu. After the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, it turned to Qiaotanli and Wan 'an Bridge. Later, it extended westward to form a market along the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal. Because of the convenience of water transportation, the grain industry is the most prosperous. During the Republic of China, most of the grain merchants came from Hubei, Anhui, northern Jiangsu and four townships and eight towns in nearby counties. Flour mills in Shanghai and other places entrust local grain merchants to buy wheat, with a maximum daily purchase of more than ten thousand tons. On the canal, sails and masts are like forests, and ships are moored in rows of geese, especially at the harvest time of rice and wheat. It is known as "Little Wuxi".

in the fourth year of Yongzheng in Qing dynasty (1726), Wujin and Yanghu counties were under the jurisdiction of Yanghu county, and after the Revolution of 1911, they merged with Wujin and Yanghu into Wujin. The town was established in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), and Qishuyan District was established in Wujin County in the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947). At that time, Qishuyan was under the jurisdiction of 14 townships including Jiao Shan, Henglin, Luoyang and Furong. Qishuyan was liberated on April 23rd, 1949, and the people's government of Wujin County was established in Fangzhu of Qishuyan on April 28th of the same year. Since 1953, Qishuyan has been transferred to Changzhou City.

Time flies. There is a jingle in Qishuyan today: "Wujinfu, Xinbeiqiang and Tianning Bell Tower are beautiful, but Qiqu is unusual, and it is still the same today." This folk song sounds really vivid, which is both sarcasm and truth. There is a slang in Changzhou Ning called' Hello, I am good, everyone is good'. Who doesn't want their hometown to be good, and who doesn't expect the fruits of reform to benefit themselves? I don't know when Dongdaemun has become synonymous with Qishuyan again. Although this gate is old and unfinished now, people have to go to the city dozens of miles away if they want to visit a hypermarket. Although successive parents have kept their mouths shut about the community strengthening area, they have finally chewed on it. Today, the reform has gradually entered the deep water area. Personally, I think it is a chance if we remove the top spot, and it may be unknown that we will get wind and water from now on if we put down our posture and change our ways. Hehe, we will complain.

Qishuyan Old Street is famous far and wide. The whole length of the street is about 6 meters. I remember that there are banks, Chengyu Flour Factory, Jianhu Supply and Marketing Cooperative, health drugstore, Liaoyuan Photo Studio and Noodle Shop in the West Street, Baodaxiang Cloth Shop, Xinlian Store, Wang Xingsheng Traumatology Department, Sanyuan Hotel and Dexing Restaurant in the Middle Street, and Runji South Goods Store, Fruit Store, Hu Yixing Hotel and Luochunge in the East Street. In the center of the top of the bridge, there is a stone carving engraved with Tai Chi texture pattern, which is still vivid after a hundred years of wind and rain. The stone bridge reflects the Jiangnan style, and the railway, highway and canal in Qidi are in a Sichuan-shaped parallel layout. The old street is close to the railway station, and the transportation is convenient. Therefore, painters and teachers and students from art colleges often come to the East Street Bridge Pond to collect scenery and sketch.
