In Huanglian, there is a saying that "one river crosses seven rivers and nine archways", which perfectly covers the ancient rhyme and cultural heritage of the ancient town.
A rippling "mother river" flows slowly and surrounds the whole coptis chinensis. Small bridges and flowing water, banyan trees towering into the sky, and blue bricks and gray tiles scattered in order are the beautiful and primitive scenery of "Shunde Little Suzhou".
In ancient times, Huanglian people basically traveled by sea, boat and ferry, which was conducive to gathering businessmen and promoting the economic prosperity of sericulture in Shunde.
The most famous He Yanyan Wharf in Huanglian Village was originally an important ferry in ancient times. Three stone lions who have been watching here for more than 600 years lie quietly on the riverbank, witnessing the gradual decline of waterway traffic and the prosperity and changes of Huanglian.
At present, only the environmental protection boat for daily cleaning and the special entertainment project of Huanglian "Dragon lice" are kept in Huanglian Village, and other boats are not allowed to pass unless there are special circumstances.
The so-called dragon lice, originally a daily pastime of parents when they were young, bid farewell to the rivers and lakes with the decline of Huanglian Xiangyun yarn industry in the 1960s.
Fortunately, He Dongcheng, an old man from Huanglian, accidentally inserted himself into a willow tree, thus giving birth to the "disappearing louse". Born as a carpenter, he is a dragon boat enthusiast himself. As a child, he often came into contact with dragon lice, so he had great affection for them.
Because the original shape of lice is not beautiful enough, and it is too difficult to control, Cheng Shu improved it to "one person swimming in a small dragon boat", which looks more like a dragon boat.
At first, Uncle Cheng just gave it to his Hongquan disciples for fun. Unexpectedly, longan meat appeared in Liu Le during the Dragon Boat Festival, bringing Youlong, a louse that had been hidden for 65 years, back to Huanglian.
In Huanglian village, there are still many heritages and memories like dragon lice. Behind the memorial archway and ancestral temple are legends written by Huanglian people one after another.
Ancient buildings can be seen everywhere in the old street, and there are many small shops with the style of 1980s and 1990s. There is a wonderful feeling of "going back to childhood" in an instant.
Opposite He Yanyan Wharf, there is a white building-Lianxi B&B which perfectly combines modern design with Lingnan customs.
The location of B&B was originally the location of two adjacent shaking hands old buildings. When the owner of B&B rebuilt, on the basis of retaining the local ancient buildings of Liule Huanglian, it incorporated many new and old modern design styles, making it the best place for foreigners to spend the night in Huanglian.
The lobby of B&B is spacious and bright. At first glance, it's quaint and elegant, but I don't know that there are details everywhere that convey the manager's feelings for the ancient rhyme of Coptis chinensis: fishbone lamp, glass window, wooden coffee table, old wooden chair, and ethnic mural. ...
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby face the pier. This is a typical nostalgic water town landscape, which just echoes the name of Lianxi B&B. When it rains, it adds a faint nostalgic filter.
Not only the lobby, but also the whole Lianxi B&B has rebuilt a large number of floor-to-ceiling windows, so that the unique beauty of Huanglian water town and antique brick houses can be integrated into it.
Coincidentally, the manager also specially designed a hammock in the river view room on the second floor, so that every visitor living in it can fall asleep in the hammock with the sound of running water, just like floating down from a stream, and the experience is very unique.
I have to admit that the longer I stay in Liule Huanglian Village, the more I can understand the meaning of the folk title "Shunde Little Suzhou". The grass and trees, streets and alleys here bear the traces of time.
