It is not ideal for taking micro food shots because the depth of field of the macro head is too small and is rarely used except for some close-ups.

The 24-70 focal length is just right.

However, you don’t really need such a good lens to take pictures of delicious food. You can use a flash and a reflector, or an ordinary kit is enough. The key is lighting and post-processing.
