The word "eight treasures" has a long history. Because the word "eight" represents wealth, status and symbol of wealth in China traditional culture, eight treasures generally refer to all the delicious dishes in ancient royal dishes.
Before the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the kidneys and livers of lambs, suckling pigs, elk and deer were often made into meat sauce and poured on yellow rice, which was called eight-treasure rice. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more aquatic products, such as sea cucumber, shark's fin, fish belly, bird's nest, deer tendon, scallop, fish lips, abalone and turtle skirt, were also listed as eight treasures.
In contrast, the eight-treasure rice made by ordinary people, as a China delicacy with a long history, has been widely spread. People take glutinous rice as the main raw material and process and steam it with various food ingredients with dietotherapy and health care functions. Although there are some differences in the proportion of raw materials in different places, folk eight-treasure rice includes but is not limited to glutinous rice, lotus seeds, coix seed, lily, red beans, red dates, longan meat, kumquat cake, candied dates and wax gourd.
Babao rice is a good dessert, which is included in the thirteen bowls of Changge, the most famous Henan cuisine. Below I will share with you the ingredients and practices of the home-cooked rice:
The ingredients of the rice are: 2g glutinous rice, 1g sugar, 5g honey, 5g water starch, 5g red dates, 15g preserved fruit, 3g dried fruits such as raisins and almonds, 1g peony bark and a little lard (spread at the bottom of the bowl).
first, wash the glutinous rice and boil a pot of boiling water for later use. After the water is boiled, pour the glutinous rice into the boiling water pot and stir with a spoon to prevent the glutinous rice from sticking to the pot. Cook on high fire for 5 minutes, and remove the glutinous rice for later use.
step 2, put the peony bark in the middle of the bowl, take a jujube, cut it from the middle, take out the jujube pit, and cut five jujubes in turn for use.
Third, connect the dates one by one, press them together repeatedly, and then cut them in the middle. Make two jujube flowers.
fourth, prepare dried fruits, almonds, raisins, cashews, walnuts and preserves, and cut the preserves into small pieces for later use.
step five, cut the peony bark into strips according to the size of the bowl.
Sixth, take an empty bowl and coat the bottom with lard.
Seventh, put the jujube flowers in the middle of the bowl, and then put 6 pieces of peony bark. Put dried fruits and preserved fruits into the framework of Guodan technology, and add jujube flowers and cortex moutan to make eight treasures.
eighth, put the glutinous rice into a bowl and flatten the surface with a spoon. Put it in a steamer and steam for 3 minutes on medium heat.
ninth, take a spoonful of water starch and pour it into the pot to boil. Add a little water and pour it into white sugar. Stir with honey to dissolve the sugar and set aside.
tenth, take a plate and turn the steamed glutinous rice bowl upside down. Pour the sugar and honey just dissolved on the eight-treasure rice, so that the home-cooked rice is ready. Suitable for all ages!
