Jiaocheng District is one of the production bases of tea, loquat and commercial cattle in Fujian Province, and the hometown of large yellow croaker and late-maturing longan in China. Late-maturing longan is famous all over the country for its big fruit and small core, thick and sweet meat, crisp and refreshing; "Dashan Yin Hao" and "Jasmine Spring Millie" teas are top grade. Agricultural and sideline products include rice, jasmine, white fungus, mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, peanuts, rapeseed, camellia oleifera seeds, tung tree seeds, peaches, plums, pomelo and persimmon beside streams, rabbit hair, freshwater eels, silver carp, grass carp, yellow croaker, mackerel, pomfret, shark, cuttlefish and hairtail. Industries include food, electronics, shoes and hats. Traditional famous products Huo Tong's scissors, Maji bamboo pillow in Jiaocheng, and Huangjia steamer.
