During this time, which high-end new energy off-road vehicle are you paying attention to?
I believe many people’s answer is: look up to U8!
This car is still several months away from being launched, but the popularity can’t be suppressed.
If it were just a gimmick like "selling for one million dollars," obviously it wouldn't have such lasting appeal.
Its real attention comes from the Yisifang technology platform.
How to understand the "Yi Sifang" platform in an easy-to-understand manner?
The Yi Sifang platform technology made its debut at the Yangwang brand launch conference on January 5, and there was almost no warm-up action before.
BYD officials said that this is a new technology platform that is enough to reconstruct the automobile drive system. Its core content is: the four-motor system.
It is not unusual to install multiple motors on a new energy vehicle. At present, new energy vehicles equipped with three-motor systems have been mass-produced and launched. However, with one more motor, the technical difficulty has obviously increased by an order of magnitude.
The current mainstream four-wheel drive system is implemented through a complex transmission system, but it has low efficiency and poor flexibility.
The Yi Sifang platform has four independently controllable wheel motors, enabling pure four-wheel independent drive and diversified control.
To put it simply, all four tires can work independently.
This brings two major benefits.
First, more powerful power output.
The maximum speed of the motor under the Yi Sifang platform is 20,500rpm, and the maximum horsepower of the vehicle can exceed 1,100Ps. For comparison, the world-famous German Leopard 2 main battle tank has a maximum horsepower of 1,500Ps, but its weight exceeds 55 tons.
Second, more application scenarios.
It can realize operations that cannot be achieved by ordinary drive systems, such as 360-degree U-turn on the spot, smooth parking with high-speed tire blowout, emergency water floating, desert slopes, etc.
It can be seen that the U8 is not the kind of high-end "toy car" that only pursues extreme skills. It can also be widely used in off-road and daily driving environments.
Of course, these application scenarios are all theoretical before this car is officially launched.
However, since BYD has launched the Yi Sifang platform technology, I believe it still has two brushes. We might as well think about its various car usage scenarios.
Skill 1: Agile steering and in-situ U-turn. Corresponding scenarios: Escape and easy steering on outdoor and urban roads. The in-situ U-turn of the Sifang platform is achieved by the reverse rotation of the left and right wheels.
When you drive your vehicle off-road outdoors, you will find that the road ahead is not suitable for continuing, but when the venue prevents you from making a regular U-turn, looking up to U8 can meet your needs in a narrow space.
At the same time, U8 can also shorten the turning radius of the vehicle through the different torque output of the motors on both sides. It can make turns that ordinary large SUVs cannot complete.
Moreover, these skills can also be realized on urban roads. The difference is that on urban roads, the traffic flow is congested, and a U-turn on the spot will turn into reverse driving. Therefore, agile steering is more useful than a U-turn on the spot.
When meeting cars on a narrow road, it can make full use of every bit of space, which ordinary models cannot adjust in place.
It is worth mentioning that these skills of U8 do not depend on road conditions. They can be used on outdoor non-paved roads, urban asphalt roads, epoxy floors, and even ice and snow roads.
Skill 2: Smooth parking with high-speed tire blowout Corresponding scenario: Avoid loss of control of high-speed vehicles On highways, collisions and rollover accidents caused by vehicle tire blowouts occur from time to time. The root cause of these accidents is the steering and braking of vehicles after a tire blowout.
System failure.
However, with the four-wheel independent motor of the Yi Sifang platform, this problem is no longer a problem, because it can provide power to the tires that have lost power in a very short period of time, allowing the driver to control the vehicle smoothly.
According to the official statement of Yangwang Auto, Yangwang U8 can still drive normally even if a tire puncture occurs at a speed of 120km/h.
This number may vary during actual vehicle use, but it is believed that this technology can significantly reduce the damage of secondary accidents after a tire blowout.
Skill Three: Emergency Floating Mode Corresponding Scenarios: Urban Flooding, Sudden Rising Water in Mountainous Areas and Beaches Regarding the Emergency Floating Mode, officials are a little concerned. In the press conference and promotional video, future car owners are advised not to use this skill to challenge extreme environments.
.
The reason is simple. This skill is used to save lives in special circumstances. It is best not to use it forever.
