Songwan Temple was originally named Li Jing'an and was built in the Tang Dynasty. Because Li Jing, a famous official of the Tang Dynasty, once lived here and was the king of towers in "Journey to the West". In the forty-fourth year of Kangxi's reign, Kangxi visited this place and named it Songwan Temple. The original building complex was destroyed by Japanese artillery fire and rebuilt in 2006.
Songwan Temple is located in the middle of Panshan Scenic Area and was built during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Its predecessor was Li Jing'an and later changed its name to Gong Wei'an. In the upper part of the pagoda stands the main tower Taiping Zen Master Pagoda. This is an ancient brick structure with clear and vivid relief patterns on the bricks. The Taiping Zen Master Pagoda was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of five to six hundred years. However, the ancient pagoda has been scarred by wind and rain. The top of the tower is covered with lush grass and moss, eroded by wind and rain. However, the architectural beauty of the Taiping Zen Master Pagoda cannot be concealed. Wansong Temple is the largest temple in the Panshan Temple Group. In front of the temple is the Taiping Zen Master Pagoda, built of bricks, with three floors of hexagons.
