This is the most pertinent evaluation of the hotel management college I have ever seen, and I will share it with you below:
I have lived in Switzerland for nearly four years, met many China students who went to Switzerland to study hotel management like me, and visited several hotel management schools, so I have a certain understanding of Swiss schools. Remind everyone that there is no official ranking of Swiss schools. Many of the rankings we see now are set by private individuals. It can be said that no individual is qualified to rank these schools. For those students who want to study hotel management in Switzerland, I suggest that they have a comprehensive understanding of the school. All I can offer is my knowledge. I hope you choose your school carefully:
EHL-the oldest school
EHL Hotel Management College in Lausanne, Switzerland is the oldest hotel management college, which was established in 1893. The school, which teaches in French and English, is located in Lausanne, French-speaking Geneva, Switzerland, half an hour's drive from Geneva Airport. The school has strict academic requirements and high admission requirements. After graduating from high school, plus the college entrance examination results (the college entrance examination results must reach the domestic key undergraduate admission line to be considered), IELTS must reach 7 or above, and qualified applicants must finally participate in the EHL interview, and the interview pass rate is very low. The tuition, room and board for a four-year bachelor's degree are about 6.5438+600,000 Swiss francs, which is about RMB1200,000 yuan. Four-year undergraduate course, internship time is 36 weeks. I wanted to apply to this school at that time, but IELTS score of 7 is still relatively high for most high schools. I got 5.5 points that year, which is a relatively normal level. None of the students I know read EHL, so I don't know much about it. The master's course should be 13 months, and there is no internship opportunity. EHL not only has a long history, but also has a very high elimination rate, which makes many students in the School of Hotel Management pay tribute to it, but at the same time, it is also discouraged from this century-old famous hotel.
SHMS-the largest and most beautiful school.
Shms (Swiss Hotel Management Institute) Swiss Hotel Management University (SEG College) is located in Montreux. It has two campuses, namely, Keke and Laisen. In my first year in Switzerland, I visited the Caux campus of this school. The building of the school was formerly a big five-star hotel, so it can be described as grand. The school is located at the top of the mountain and can see the infinite scenery of the whole Lake Geneva. The school is larger than other hotel management schools in Switzerland, with a large number of students, and the proportion of people in various regions is still moderate. I just met four SHMS students when I traveled to Europe the year I graduated. At that time, two of them had already got an Offer from an American hotel, and the other two planned to go back to China for development. Their own evaluation of SHMS is not bad. The long-term contact between the school and the hotel is the most praised by students. International recruitment forum job fairs are held for interns and graduates every year, probably because there are a large number of graduates in SHMS and there are more hotels in SHMS to recruit. I've seen them advertise the recruitment leap. In fact, many big hotels go to them to recruit staff, such as Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt Regency, Four Seasons Hotel, Disney and Swissair, and there are also many high-end hotels in Europe, such as Somalia, Evian Royal Holy Land and Sun God. The tuition, room and board of the three-year bachelor's degree course are about 6.5438 million Swiss francs, and the school provides two internship opportunities, about 9-654.38+ 02 months. Personally, I like this school very much, but the agency didn't promote it when I applied, so I didn't choose this school at that time. However, I heard that this school is very difficult both academically and practically, so I should be prepared for hardship when choosing this school.
Glion-my alma mater.
I graduated from Glion(Glion Institute of Higher Education) Swiss Glion Hotel Management Institute (originally a subsidiary of Lorette Group of the United States, Lorette sold Glion and Linos to the European investment company Eurazeo on March 20 16). I can say more about my school. The school originally had three campuses, namely Montreux Campus, Laisen Campus and Buller Campus, but the Laisen Campus was closed two years ago due to lack of students. It is said that Buller will also be closed, leaving only the Montreux campus. I like Montreux campus very much, and the scenery is better. There is another school, SHMS, in the middle of this mountain. The location of the school is a bit like a cliff, and you can also see the whole Lake Geneva. The school has two campuses, and there is a ski resort around the school, which is very holiday-like. The hardware in the school is not bad. The school has been established for many years, and its promotion is very good and its popularity is good. When I applied, I asked many intermediaries which school Switzerland chose, and they all recommended Glion to me. I think Glion was originally a tradition of Swiss hotel management. I didn't know until I got to school that Glion and Les Roches were acquired by an American company in 2000. American business atmosphere has destroyed Glion's academic atmosphere. In recent years, Glion's management is not very good, and it has become the burden of Loleit Group. 2065438+In March 2006, Lori Group sold Glion and Linos for initial public offering, and sold them to the European investment company Eurazeo for 380 million Swiss francs. When I learned the news, I felt insecure. "The school made of iron is the master of running water." When I went there that year, many Asians, a school with hundreds of students and students from mainland schools in China already accounted for 125. China has the highest proportion of master students, especially in the direction of education. There are 9 China students in a class of 65,438+05 students. In addition, there are many students from Korea, Vietnam and India. In freshman and sophomore classes, group discussions are often shared with students from our own country. When the teacher is not paying attention, we all speak Chinese ... but the teachers are very good and have a good relationship with the students. However, the tuition is a bit expensive. The total cost of a three-and-a-half-year bachelor's degree is almost 6.5438+600,000 Swiss francs (equivalent to RMB/kloc-0.00 million yuan), and there are often some small fees to be paid. Generally speaking, I had a good time during those three and a half years, and often went skiing or traveling with my classmates. If you want to apply for Glion, I suggest contacting Switzerland directly, or looking for a large national chain organization to apply, instead of looking for the so-called China Beijing office, which is an organization (called successful sailing, claiming to be the school office). I don't understand why the school allows them to do this. If one day the school doesn't cooperate with them, the students who apply for them will be neglected.
Cesar Ritz-a school standing on the shoulders of great men.
Cesar Ritz (Swiss Cesar Ritz Institute), a university affiliated to SEG, was founded in 1982. It has three campuses, located in the southeast of Lake Geneva, in Bouveret and in the center of Briggs, and it seems that there is also a campus in Lucerne. The Caesar Ritz is named after Mr. Caesar Ritz, the "father of the hotel", and is authorized by the Caesar Ritz Foundation, so it can be regarded as the recognition of the Ritz by the descendants of the father of the hotel. Generally speaking, this is a very good school with great development potential, and I believe it will be as famous as EHL soon. Ritz offers three-year undergraduate and two-year master's programs. In addition to teaching hotel and tourism management courses, catering enterprise management courses are also the characteristics of this school. There is also a famous course in this school, that is, the course of culinary arts. I heard that their teacher in this course is very good, and their school is the organizer of several consecutive Olympic Games in Swiss House, which made me envious at that time! In addition, the course of catering enterprise management is also the strength of this school. Many people think that after completing hotel management, they can only work in the hotel or tourism industry. In fact, it mainly depends on how the school sets up the curriculum. Take the Ritz as an example, the school attaches great importance to divergent education in the direction of hotels and tourism. For example, the course will involve the management of chain catering enterprises. The cost of a three-year bachelor's degree in Ritz is about 654.38+200,000 Swiss francs, and the cost of a master's degree is about 60,000 Swiss francs.
Les Roches-Glion's sister school.
Les Roches (Les Roches International Hotel Management Institute) is located in Brusch, Valle, Switzerland, which is a beautiful place. However, most dormitories and school buildings are separated. It takes more than ten minutes to walk from the dormitory to the classroom. The weather is fine when it doesn't snow. It's inconvenient to move when it snows. Like Glion University, Les Roches University enjoys a high reputation in China, and its nearly 30-year history has enabled it to train a large number of graduates. But now, this school, like Glion, was sold to Jurasio by American Laurie. When I applied, I happened to go to Glion and Les Roches with my friends. The undergraduate course was completed in four years, half a year more than my undergraduate course. However, to my friend's dismay, they take classes in the first year and the second year, and they practice in the first half, practice in the second half and teach in the first half. However, it takes three weeks (unpaid) to attend classes and do three weeks' practical work in the school cafeteria, which means that he spends half his time doing practical work, that is to say, only a quarter of his time actually attends classes in the first year and the second year. The first year's practical course is F&: B, and the second year is about the kitchen ... Later, his friend read it and transferred to another school next semester. In the first two years, he had only attended classes for less than half a year and had already spent 60,000 Swiss francs. I heard that Renos' team recently spent a lot of money to find someone to rank schools. The survey results actually show that Renos ranks even higher than Cornell University and ranks first with EHL University. In fact, Renos is really not so good. Although it belongs to the same group as Glion, it belongs to the category of low-end products. After studying in Glion for three and a half years, it was changed to four years in Renos because of the quality of students. The school also established a four-year undergraduate college LRG College in Gruyere, Switzerland (the full name has been forgotten), but due to poor operation, the college stopped enrolling students.
Iht ti- a small but famous school.
IHTTI (IHTTI Hotel Management College in Neuchatel) was founded by Neuchatel Hotel Management University in Switzerland at 1984. It is one of the earliest English-taught hotel management schools in Switzerland, located in the center of Neuchatel, French-speaking Switzerland. Neuchatel is a very good city, with many ancient buildings preserved, and many famous universities in Switzerland are here. IHTTI is a primary school with only 500 students, but the equipment of the school is still ok. After visiting so many schools, I feel that the dormitory in this school is the best. According to a friend, Ihti was formerly a hotel. Although the school is relatively small, the facilities needed for studying hotel management are complete. In addition, the quality of teachers in this school seems to be good, because it is often heard that the teachers in this school are very strong, and some five-star hotel executives come here as teachers, and teachers are very concerned about students. I heard that the headmaster can remember every student's name. This course used to be famous for hotels and tourism, but now it seems to have been reformed into hotel management and hotel design. This course integrates luxury management courses and is suitable for luxury tourism and holiday product management in the future. The cost of the three-year undergraduate course in this school is about 654.38+ one million Swiss francs. This school provides free English tutoring courses for students. I personally appreciate this point of this school, because everyone knows that Swiss schools are private, but it is rare for this school to be so considerate to students.
Hotel manager retraining base
HIM (Montreux Hotel Research Institute) was established in Montreux, Switzerland, at 1986. It is located in the center of Montreux. It is also a small school, but it looks quite atmospheric from the main building of the school. It's good to see the mountains in the distance from school. I studied in Montreux myself, so I visited this school when I first arrived in Switzerland. He left a good impression on me. When I visit a school, I usually like to go to the library. There are 800 to 900 people in his school, and there are thousands of books in the library. Now, when students enter school, they will distribute an ipad as a portable e-book. Besides, his students look a little more mature. It is said that HIM mainly promotes business administration and hotel management, and can choose courses in different directions in the last year, such as finance, marketing, human resources and luxury goods, which are favored by some senior hotel managers who want to retrain. In addition, this low-key school has a great point, that is, it cooperates with the local Swiss government and banks, and students can have the opportunity to participate in government activities and financial and business planning. I always think that hotel management is a relatively professional discipline. If some business administration courses are injected into the curriculum, it can be said that it is a good improvement, so that students will not necessarily be confined to the hotel industry after graduation, but will have broader employment opportunities. The tuition fee for a three-year undergraduate course is about 6,543,800 Swiss francs, or about 600,000 RMB.
A primary school in Lucerne.
Imi (International Hotel Management Institute) Swiss International Hotel Management Institute is located in the center of Lucerne, Switzerland. There is a big lake next to the school. Standing by the lake, you can see the snow-capped mountains in the distance, which is a very good landscape. I once had a classmate studying here. My classmate's evaluation is that the school is small, which is more expensive than DCT International Hotel Management College in the same city, but the teaching quality is far less than DCT. Because the school is unknown, it is quite difficult to find an internship, so my classmates did not rely on the school to find an internship opportunity, but found a restaurant in the German-speaking area. The undergraduate course of IMI University is three years, and the tuition fee is about 1 10000 Swiss francs.
School of Hotel Management and Western Cuisine.
DCT (Swiss DCT University Center) Swiss International Hotel Management Institute is also located in the center of Lucerne, Switzerland. It is about 10 minutes from Lucerne Railway Station. It was founded in 199 1 year. At first, it was only open to Swiss locals. Later, it opened English courses to recruit international students, mainly providing courses such as hotel management, western food and cooking technology. I heard that the western food and western food courses in this school are excellent. I feel that their students are very happy. They can eat delicious food every day. The school was later renamed CAA (SEG College). Since there are no friends studying, the details will not be shared.
Ssth- a school with two language families
Ssth (Swiss Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management) The Swiss Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, located in the German-speaking area, was founded in 1966, formerly a spa hotel. The school itself is divided into German teaching area and English teaching area. I once knew a girl who was studying in SSTH when I was traveling. According to her introduction, SSTH is divided into two departments, one is German Department and the other is English Department. Almost all German departments are Swiss natives, while English departments are divided into two classes. There are about half Asians in each class, and there are also many Sri Lankans. Because SSTH has a branch in Sri Lanka, the students there will transfer here in the third year, but the students in the class get along well and harmoniously. However, one thing has to be mentioned. Domestic intermediaries always associate SSTH with HTW· Kuhl. In fact, since 2006, HTW Kur has terminated its cooperation with SSTH. Domestic intermediaries distort the facts for personal gain, insisting that SSTH is a part of public universities. I hope the students will not be misled. After SSTH was acquired by EHL, it walked with the aura of EHL in China. In fact, after completing the three-year diploma course at SSTH, you will get a Swiss professional degree awarded by SSTH (this diploma is not an undergraduate degree, and the Ministry of Education of China does not recognize this degree). If you want to get an EHL degree, you need to study for another 65,438+0.5 years, and IELTS needs to reach 7 points. If you have no work experience, you must study 1 year first, so it takes 5.5 years for ordinary high school students to transfer from SSTH to EHL. After graduating from SSTH's three-year program, you can't directly study for a master's degree in EHL. Can't go to other countries to study for a master's degree (because it's not an undergraduate course).
If students want to complete their degree courses, they can study at Queen Margaret University in the UK and complete their degree within one year (in Switzerland), or they can complete their degree at the University of Delaware in the United States within one year. In addition, students can transfer to HTW University and complete their degrees within two years (in principle, students from all hotel management schools can transfer to HTW University as long as they meet the requirements, which does not mean that SSTH University is a part of HTW University).
HTMi-another primary school.
Htmi (School of Hotel and Tourism Management) Swiss International Hotel Tourism Management College is located in Lucerne, a German-speaking area. An HTMi student I met at the forum on studying abroad told me about this school. He said that the school is relatively small, and the teaching building consists of several wooden houses, with only about 200 people (some of them went out for internships, but the school actually has only 100 people). This is a remote school, and the students are Vietnamese and Indians. Although the school provides meals, students often complain about the poor quality of food, but the school ignores it. In addition, the personnel transfer of teachers is more severe, and teachers change more frequently. The school library is very small and the swimming pool is pitifully small. There are only three or four bookshelves in the library, and the swimming pool is not much bigger than the bathtub. The only advantage is that the tuition is relatively cheap. The three-year undergraduate tuition fee is less than 90 thousand Swiss francs. However, I read on Swissant that some students reported that this school did not issue transcripts to prevent students from transferring midway. Students who want to transfer must provide transcripts to prove what courses they have taken, and then other Swiss schools will accept transfer applications.
Bhms-a school facing the enrollment problem
Bhms (School of Business and Hotel Management) The Swiss School of Business and Hotel Management is located near Lucerne Railway Station. Little known, and the number of students is very small. It is said that there are only 100 people. I hardly heard of this school during my stay in Switzerland, and I also met a student from this school in Switzerland. However, the student was full of bitterness and felt cheated by the school. I don't know the specific reason. I just heard that the school itself is not qualified to issue diplomas, and most schools are Indians, so it is difficult to find internship opportunities.
The schools mentioned above are all hotel management schools that can teach in English. There may be more schools that teach in English that are not mentioned. If you still know, please continue to add. In addition, I don't know much about schools that teach in other languages, and I don't know much about the students, so I won't make an evaluation for the time being.
