1. Haidilao Membership System

The first thing we need to talk about is Haidilao’s membership system. Haidilao’s new membership system was implemented in October 2018. When I was writing this article, I saw that Haidilao had released another notice. Starting from January 2020, the membership system will be updated again, but the update will not change much. For Haidilao members, my suggestion is that no matter how infrequently you eat Haidilao, you must register as a member.

The introduction to the rules section has always been boring, but you still need to have a general understanding.

1. Haidilao membership registration methods and level rules

Haidilao membership

The main membership registration methods are: Haidilao APP, Haidilao WeChat official account, Haidilao store ordering pad.

Member level rules:

Haidilao membership is divided into four levels: Red Sea, Silver Sea, Golden Sea, and Black Sea. Membership levels are not permanent, but dynamically determined.

Member points are called coins. It is mainly obtained by members spending at Haidilao stores in mainland China, and 1 yuan is equal to 1 Lao coin. You can also get coins by participating in games or community interactions on the Haidilao APP.

Member level is currently determined based on growth value. The growth value is mainly calculated based on the total value of coins obtained by members in the last 6 months and the reward growth value (the number of purchases in the store in the last 6 months X 100).

As you can see, the current rules are divided according to the growth value obtained by members in the past 6 months. A grading judgment will be made on the 1st of each month. Those who reach the corresponding level of growth value will be upgraded, and those who cannot reach the growth value will be downgraded. (It will only be downgraded at most once within 6 months, and each time it will be downgraded by one level only).

Haidilao Membership Upgrade 2.0

After January 2020, the calculation period will be extended from 6 months to 12 months. In other words, from next year, promotion and downgrade will be calculated based on the growth value obtained by members in the last 12 months, making it easier to upgrade and maintain Haidilao membership. Members who were originally stuck in the Gold Sea level will be upgraded to Black Sea membership in large numbers.

The following are two simple examples based on the new rules for better understanding.

(1) Little M is an old member. On January 1, 2020, the system re-determined Little M’s membership level. The growth value is based on the total growth value obtained by Little M from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. More than 1W2 is the Black Sea, more than 6000 but less than 1W2 is the Golden Sea, more than 2000 but less than 6000 is the Silver Sea, and less than 2000 is the lowest level Red Sea.

(2) Little M is a newly registered member. The frequency of eating Haidilao is about 2 times a month, and the consumption is about 300 yuan each time. The monthly earning coins from APP games and interactions are about 200, and the growth value obtained by Xiao M every month is about (2 x 300 2 100) 200= 1000, then it will take about 2 months to upgrade from a registered member (Red Sea) to Silver Sea. On the 1st of the third month, the system will determine the upgrade to Silver Sea; it will take about 6 months to upgrade to Gold Sea; If the growth value obtained in 12 months exceeds 12,000, you can upgrade to Black Sea.

2. Why should you register as a member of Haidilao?

As for why you should register as a member of Haidilao, let’s talk about the rights and interests of members. Haidilao membership rights mainly include the following three aspects.

Members can book or queue online

First, members can book or queue online. I believe everyone who eats Haidilao knows how time-consuming it is to wait for a seat at a Haidilao store. There may be no so-called off-peak periods throughout the day during holidays, and it is very common to wait in line for more than two hours during peak periods on weekdays. Members can make reservations or queue in advance on the Haidilao APP or WeChat official account (Alipay can also queue) to reduce the time of waiting for a seat on site.

Members can redeem coins for gifts

Second, members can redeem coins for gifts. The coins obtained through dining or Haidilao APP games and interactions can be exchanged for dishes, vouchers, commodities, etc., which is a real discount. (More details about earning coins will be given below.)

Member-exclusive activities

Third, member-exclusive activities. Members can receive birthday gifts (a voucher for the birthday month), upgrade benefits (members who upgrade to Silver, Gold, or Black Sea levels on the 1st of each month will receive vouchers or food coupons) and other discounts, and also have the opportunity to participate in online events organized by Haidilao. Next activity (usually sign up first on Haidilao APP, involving new product tasting, handicraft classes, etc.).

In addition, since Haidilao membership is divided into levels, members of different levels will naturally have different membership rights. Let’s take the Black Sea membership as an example to explain why. Every fishing friend hopes to be a Black Sea member.

Dining priority arrangement

(1) Dining priority arrangement. Black Sea members have dedicated customer service on the Haidilao APP. If you contact the dedicated customer service at least 2 hours in advance for dining in the store, priority will be given to reduce waiting time. This policy excludes weekends and statutory holidays. As a service of Black Sea, I often use it. The process is roughly to contact the dedicated customer service on the APP and provide the restaurant, time, number of people, and whether there are any special requirements. The dedicated customer service will quickly feedback to the store customer service. The store customer service will call to reconfirm the information and help reserve seats. A successful reservation means that you can arrive at the store on time and dine directly without waiting for a seat. However, when encountering stores with large customer flow in business districts or dining during peak periods, and the store reservations are fully booked, the store customer service can only arrange seats on behalf of Black Sea members on the day of dining, and communicate with the store receptionist that Black Sea will give priority to seating arrangements after arriving at the store.

(2) Private rooms are limited to free service charges. This service is currently only available in three stores: Beijing Dazhongsi Store, Shanghai Zhangyang Road Store, and Shenzhen Excellence Store. The requirement is to contact dedicated customer service 1-2 days in advance to make an appointment, and it can only be used during off-peak periods. Better than nothing.

(4) Black Sea exclusive exchange. In the Laobi Mall on the Haidilao APP, certain products can only be redeemed by Black Sea members, such as 2,999 Lao coins for a self-cooked hot pot gift box, 99 Lao coins for a 7-day Tencent Video membership, etc.; some products can only be redeemed by Black Sea members, such as 1 coin to redeem Tencent Video 7-day membership.

(5) Hidden rights and interests of in-store dining. When members dine in a store, a sign showing their membership level will usually be placed on the table. Black Sea usually gets more attention from the waiters, and a large fruit plate or dish is usually given when dining. If you are a Black Sea person and often dine in the same store, if you are very familiar with the waiters and management, you may also get a discount on the bill (only dishes), or upgrade to a discount account, usually 12% off, up to 20% off.

Haidilao Membership Upgrade 2.0

As mentioned earlier, Haidilao will update the membership system again in the near future. In addition to extending the membership grading calculation cycle, membership rights will also increase. This is also one aspect. As can be seen in the trailer, it mainly adds black gold special offers in the mall, frequent customer gifts, and birthday parties.

Black Sea Star

Writing this, I would like to add a special type of Black Sea member, namely "Black Sea Star". Haidilao officials screened a group of Black Sea members around the end of October and sent a "Black Sea Star" notification. This special category is currently not displayed on the Haidilao membership system, but its benefits are higher than those of the Black Sea level. The first batch of 17,914 "Black Sea Stars" will receive a physical gift (Black Sea commemorative badge and Haidilao account book), as well as a free service fee coupon for a private room in November and December.

3. What is the use of fishing coins and how to get them?

As mentioned before, fishing coins are Haidilao membership points. Let’s first talk about the use of earning coins.

How to pay a few or dozens of yuan for a meal at Haidilao is usually achieved by exchanging the coins for menu coupons or vouchers. I will explain this in detail in the second part below.

Before, Haidilao APP also had a small amount of coins for daily check-in, but this activity has been temporarily canceled.

Of course, for lazy people like me, whether it is games or community interactions, they will find it time-consuming and energy-consuming, and generally will not take the initiative to participate.

Validity period of coin:

The validity period of coin is currently from the date of acquisition, and the validity period is no less than 24 months, and the longest is no more than 25 months, each time it is generated The coins expire at 0:00 on the 1st of the 25th month.

The rules seem a bit convoluted, so let’s give an example. For example, if the coins obtained from January 1 to January 31, 2020 have not been used as of January 31, 2022, the unused coins will expire at 0:00 on February 1, 2020.

4. Summary

Now that we have finished talking about the boring Haidilao membership system, the summary is that you must register as a Haidilao member. The higher the membership level, the better the benefits, and fishing coins are very useful.

If you are a frequent visitor to Haidilao or can be called a fishing friend, you naturally hope to quickly upgrade to Black Sea. Is it difficult to upgrade and maintain Black Sea membership?
