First of all, we all know that the Tang monk in "Journey to the West" is actually Jin Chanzi. Jin Chanzi was demoted to the mortal world because he fell asleep while the Buddha was preaching.

Later, in order to increase the influence of Buddhism in the world, Tathagata Buddha arranged for Tang Monk to go to the West to obtain scriptures.

Since Jin Chanzi himself made a mistake and was demoted to earth, Tathagata Buddha naturally could not let him easily become a Buddha again. This is why Tathagata Buddha asked Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to create ninety-nine and eighty-one difficulties for the four masters and disciples of Tang Monk.

In addition to expanding the influence of Buddhism, Tathagata Buddha also hoped to enrich Xitian's strength, so Tathagata Buddha chose Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Monk Sha as disciples of Monk Tang.

In order to make all this seem "natural", Tathagata Buddha suppressed Sun Wukong at the foot of Wuzhi Mountain when he was causing trouble in the Heavenly Palace, and then asked Guanyin Bodhisattva to find Zhu Bajie and Monk Sha who had been demoted to earth to serve as Tang Monk's apprentices.

It can be said that the great drama of Tathagata Buddha shocked the three worlds, so Tang Monk could only succeed but not fail in his pursuit of scriptures.

Guanyin Bodhisattva also knew the importance of Tang Monk's Buddhist scriptures, so he found many goblins in the Three Realms to act as extras, and asked them to capture Tang Monk and pretend to eat him, but in fact these goblins did not dare to eat Tang Monk at all.

It is precisely for this reason that every time after Tang Seng was captured, the goblins had to clean him, steam, boil, or roast him to eat. Some goblins had to choose an auspicious day in order to eat Tang Seng's meat.

There are also some monsters who eat Zhu Bajie and drink wine before eating Tang Monk. In fact, the monsters do this to give Sun Wukong enough time. Otherwise, if the monsters really wanted to eat Tang Monk's meat, they would have eaten it long ago.
