When I went to Guangzhou for the first time ten years ago, it was only for two days in a hurry. I didn’t go to many places, and I wasn’t as diligent in recording as I am now. The deepest impression on me in Guangzhou was both vague and profound. The main points are as follows.
The trees on both sides of the street were so dense that they were blocking out the sun. As a northerner who went to college in the north, this was the first time I saw trees on both sides of the street that were so dense that they were blocking out the sun. In the old district, even under the scorching sun,
You don’t have to worry about being exposed to the sun when you walk on the street, and there are lush plants like a rainforest in Yuexiu Park.
Slippers are everywhere on the streets. There may not be so many on the streets of Guangzhou now, but when I went there ten years ago, there were really many people wearing slippers on the streets. They were very ordinary slippers. Most of them were men, especially older ones.
People, many wear slippers.
There were many herbal tea shops, and Wong Lao Kat was already very common at that time. When I arrived in Guangzhou, I found that there were many herbal tea shops on the streets, which were no worse than Wong Lao Kat, and the prices were cheaper.
Sauna Day in May. The first time I went to Guangzhou was on May Day. Guangzhou was already extremely hot at that time. When I got off the plane, I felt like I had entered a huge sauna. I was sweating anytime and anywhere.
These are my impressions from ten years ago. Ten years later, I came to Guangzhou again. This time I stayed for a longer time. In one week, I will tell you about my impressions of Guangzhou during this trip. It’s just my personal experience.
, don’t spray if you don’t like it.
Because this time I went to Guangzhou on the first day of the Lunar New Year, which happened to coincide with the Spring Festival, I saw Nian Ju in the streets and alleys. As a northerner, it was quite strange to see Nian Ju for the first time. After all, in my understanding
, you have to go to an orchard to see oranges. Later I found out that this is a homophone that means good luck and good luck. It is a local New Year custom, mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan. After all, if this is in the north, oranges are not produced, so even if they are released during the New Year
It's freezing outside too.
When I walked around the streets of Guangzhou on the second day of the Lunar New Year, there were already a lot of people, and most of them were locals. In some places in the north, people didn’t go out much until the third day of the Lunar New Year, and they started to visit after the third day of the Lunar New Year.
During the Chinese New Year, many places in the north are still too cold, but it is different in the south. During the Chinese New Year, Guangzhou has warm spring flowers and is suitable for going out.
And I think the time I went there during the Spring Festival should be the time of year when the weather in Guangzhou is relatively comfortable. After all, it will start to return to the south now, and it will be hot like a sauna day in a while.
I don’t know if I will be criticized by the locals for saying this. Every time I go to a city, the local traffic will give me a different impression. My impression of Guangzhou’s traffic, especially in the old city, is that it is a small and dense road network with one-way streets.
There are many, narrow roads, many overpasses, twists and turns, and the traffic is a bit chaotic. There are no non-motorized lanes or the non-motorized lanes are relatively narrow, and there are many vehicles occupying the road and parking illegally.
When it comes to transportation, I have a deep understanding of it. My footprints in Guangzhou are mainly in Liwan and Yuexiu, and I also go to Tianhe and Haizhu. For traveling, I often ride ***shared bicycles for the convenience of shopping. The number of ***shared bicycles in Guangzhou is huge.
It is really very convenient, but it is really not easy to ride a bicycle.
First of all, it’s because the non-motorized lanes in many places are not very wide. I even saw a half-meter-wide non-motorized lane on one road, and some roads have no non-motorized lanes, or they are one-way roads with narrow roads and many cars.
Buses often pass by me as a cyclist, which makes me nervous. In some sections, the non-motorized lanes are separated by iron fences, which is relatively better.
Because there are no non-motorized lanes in some places, there are still many non-motorized vehicles on the road, so the traffic seems a bit chaotic. It is probably not only troublesome to ride a bicycle, but also to drive a car.
Moreover, I found that not only the non-motor vehicle roads are narrow, some sections are also full of potholes, and you have to avoid these potholes while riding.
Of course, the narrow roads and potholes may be due to the old city.
We saw a lot of electric vehicles and pedestrians running red lights, and there were also a lot of people occupying the road and driving in the wrong direction. The overall feeling was that the traffic was a bit chaotic.
I was cycling through a road section before. On the right was an illegal parked person occupying the road. On the left was a speeding bus. I was facing an electric car going the wrong way. I was riding in the middle of the road. It was really difficult. In short, I couldn’t ride on it several times.
It was a near miss. I feel that my driving skills improved a lot during those days in Guangzhou.
I wonder what the locals think of the road conditions and traffic in Guangzhou?
However, Guangzhou has many public transportation modes. In addition to buses and subways, there are also light rail, BRT, water buses, and APM driverless subways. The choices are diverse and convenient.
Guangzhou has a CBD that is not inferior to Beijing or Shanghai. The CBD of Zhujiang New Town gives people a bright feeling whether it is during the day or at night. There are many high-rise buildings, which suddenly makes people feel like they are in Hong Kong. Some people also say that the CBD of Zhujiang New Town is
The reference is Hong Kong, so this is unknown.
Although Guangzhou is a metropolis, the atmosphere here is very strong. A former colleague left Beijing and went to Shenzhen. She went to Guangzhou not long after working in Shenzhen. She said she preferred the atmosphere of life in Guangzhou.
This kind of life and fireworks atmosphere can be felt particularly strongly in the old city, and it has made Guangzhou unique.
