Nine-story demon tower, why didn't you dare to dig again when you only dug two floors in archaeology?
In fact, this ancient tomb is called "nine-story demon building" by Tibetans. It is the largest hot water tomb in the archaeological community, named Xuewei No.1 Tomb. There are many tombs that Chinese archaeologists dare not dig. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the excavation of Dingling advocated by Guo Moruo brought great "disasters" to Chinese archaeologists. So far, the country no longer approved the initiative to dig ancient tombs, so the subsequent archaeology in China was aimed at rescuing and protecting cultural relics. This is also the reason for the "nine-story demon building" here. After the rescue excavation of the two-story tomb, it was stopped. Of course, some rumored paranormal became the reason for stopping the excavation. I just want to say that if you believe it, you will have it. If you don't believe it, you will have it.

The nine-story demon building is named after it.

"It was very cold on the way, and it was surrounded by wind and snow, flying sand and gravel, and my eyes were full. Only Tugu Huncheng was warmer than the rest. Its state-owned writing is the same as Wei's. Custom politics, mostly for foreign law "-"Song Yunxing Ji "

Xuewei No.1 Tomb is located in Reshui Township, dulan county City, Qinghai Province. More than 200 ancient tombs have been discovered here, and the famous nine-story demon building is one of the most magnificent. Archaeologists preliminarily concluded that the tomb belonged to the Tuguhun royal tomb in the early Tang Dynasty. According to the records of Song Yun, a traveler of the Northern Wei Dynasty in the 6th century, Tuguhun had a high degree of civilization at that time, and his geographical position determined that it became the hub of east-west communication. The silk, ancient Roman gold coins and Persian silver coins unearthed in this tomb are the best proof.

This tomb faces south, with a height of 33 meters, a length of 55 meters from east to west and a width of 37 meters from north to south. The situation is like the word "gold", so it is called the "Oriental Pyramid". From top to bottom, every 1 m, a hundred-year-old cypress trees pass through the mound, and in this form, nine floors are built. Because the local Tibetans spread the unlucky legend of this tomb, it is called "a tall building with monsters" and also called "a nine-story demon building". Experts mainly explain this spread as Tubo wiped out Tuyuhun in the 7th century A.D., and Tibetans called this nation a monster, so they called its tomb a "demon building".

Tomb archaeology

The archaeology of the Nine-story Demon Building is accidental. There are thousands of ancient tombs in the whole Dulan area, and the hot water tombs are just one of them. The Qinghai provincial government has cracked a large number of grave robbery cases here and recovered a large number of ancient cultural relics, including gold and silver vessels, stone carvings and pottery, which are of great research value. 1996, this tomb was officially discovered by archaeologists, but at the time of discovery, the traces of looting had been found in this big tomb and surrounding small tombs, so the archaeological team conducted a rescue excavation for this ancient tomb.

In this archaeology, a large number of leather boots, Tibetan wood chips, ancient Mongolian wooden slips, painted wood chips, gold and silver ornaments, grain and silk fragments were unearthed in the tombs. More than 700 remains of horses, cows, dogs, sheep and other animals were found buried with him. This scale of burial and the burial of grain and livestock led archaeologists to speculate that the tomb owner should be Tuyuhun or Tubo princes and nobles. However, the purpose of this archaeology is to protect the tomb that has been stolen and to rescue the cultural relics left in the tomb, so only two floors have been excavated, and the remaining seven floors have been well protected without further excavation. Of course, this is also limited by archaeological technology, which may not guarantee that the protection of cultural relics after excavation can be foolproof, which is similar to the attitude towards Qin Shihuang's mausoleum.

Another reason for not daring to dig.

I have to say that our country has always believed in some thinking that transcends science, or theology or metaphysics. Anyway, the ancients said that geomantic omen or ghosts and gods are the essence of traditional culture. Believe it or not, there are reasons why they have been passed down to this day.

"Nine-story platform, starting from the foundation of soil" —— Lao Zi

The shape of the nine-story demon building is similar to a pyramid, which is somewhat similar to the mausoleum of Qin Shihuang, which is said to be based on nine layers of rammed earth. The demon building here is also a nine-story building. I think this tomb should also be a king's tomb. The "Nine" is the supreme of the Ninth Five-Year Plan. In ancient China, the "Nine" was not misused. Just like the stone lion in front of the ancient gate, not everyone can invite it, but the town can invite it. If you can't live, it's a disaster! The folk name for the Demon House may not be groundless. Perhaps some paranormal made the Tibetans here feel afraid, and because they could not explain it, they called it "Demon".

"Looking for dragons depends on winding mountains, and a heavy winding is a heavy pass. If there are thousands of locks when closing the door, there must be a prince living here. " -"shake the dragon"

From the perspective of geomantic omen, this tomb stretches from east to west with its back to two mountains, just like two dragons. The tomb is located at the mouth of two dragons, just like a treasure bead, becoming the trend of "two dragons playing with pearls". In addition, Yaolou is located in the Kunlun Mountains, which is the gathering place of the dragon heads of three Long Mai on the land of China. In front of the mountain is a large open area with excellent feng shui. This is reminiscent of the tomb-seeking formula in "Shake the Dragon", and inadvertently gasped. In those days, the archaeological activities suddenly stopped, and it was announced to the outside world that the structure of the building was complex and well protected, and it was inconvenient for further excavation. This explanation was passable, but how much the sudden stop of excavation would arouse people's curiosity, and whether the building was really so mysterious or not, we don't know.

To sum up, for the time being, we think that the archaeological activities ended on the first and second floors because of the protection of ancient tombs. Due to the limitation of archaeological conditions, this excavation is only aimed at the maintenance and rescue of the robbed floors, while the remaining seven floors may not be seen again until the archaeological technology is more mature, which also leaves a suspense for many archaeological fans.
