The Golden Bauhinia sits on a round warm red granite plinth, which was commissioned by the Central People's Government to be built by the Global Stone Group of Companies.

The shape of the pedestal is designed as a city wall, which represents the Great Wall of China symbolizing the motherland, symbolizing that the motherland will always embrace Hong Kong, and the shape of the pedestal is rounded at the bottom, symbolizing the squareness of the nine states.

The Bauhinia represents Hong Kong, and on the base are engraved the words "Bauhinia Forever Blooming" in golden letters, symbolizing Hong Kong's eternal prosperity. The whole design symbolizes that Hong Kong is situated within China's territory and that Hong Kong is part of China.
