Is it illegal to eat crocodile meat?
Whether eating crocodile meat is illegal generally depends on the situation:

1, it is generally not illegal for the parties to eat artificially domesticated crocodile meat. For the domestication and breeding of crocodiles, the license for domestication and breeding of national key protected wild animals has been obtained, which is edible and not illegal for commercial operation and utilization;

2. However, if it is a wild crocodile belonging to protected animals, such as the Chinese alligator, it is a national first-class protected animal, and hunting is strictly prohibited, which may constitute the crime of illegally hunting and killing precious wild animals.

The national key protected wild animals with mature and stable artificial breeding technology have been scientifically demonstrated and included in the list of national key protected wild animals with artificial breeding formulated by the competent department of wildlife protection in the State Council. For the wild animals and their products listed in the list, they can directly obtain special marks according to the annual production quantity verified by the wildlife protection departments of the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government with the artificial breeding license, and sell and use them with the special marks to ensure traceability.
