1. Peel the pumpkin and use a knife to take off the top of the pumpkin and cut it into some patterns.
2. Remove the flesh and hollow out the pumpkin.
3. Soak the glutinous rice for 3-5 hours, until it can be crushed with your fingers.
4. Take out the glutinous rice and put it into the pumpkin. Be careful not to fill it too full, about two-thirds is enough, and then add the dates.
5. Close the lid and poke a few small holes on the top with chopsticks or a knife so that the rice will cook more easily.
6. Steam over high heat for about an hour and it will be ready.
