It is connected to the Central Canal in the north and the Jiangnan Canal in the south across the Yangtze River. On the west side of Lixiahe area, it is called the Hangou, Caoqu and Zhongdushui in ancient times, and the common name is Lihe. Because it reaches Huaiyin in in the north and Yangzhou in the south, it is also called "Huaiyang Canal".
The northern end starts from Huaiyin Water Control Project in Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province, passes through Huaiyin District, Huai 'an District, Baoying County, Gaoyou City, Jiangdu District of Yangzhou City, Guangling District and other places, and enters the Yangtze River from Liuwei in Hanjiang District of Yangzhou City, with a length of 168 km.
The main tributary of the Li canal
1, Subei irrigation main canal, which is a comprehensive utilization channel for irrigation with Huai River diversion, flood diversion and communication between east and west shipping. It starts from Gaoliangjian in Hongze County in the west, meets the Li Canal from Qingpu District to Huai 'an in the east, and then enters the Yellow Sea from Funing, Binhai and Sheyang County to Biandan Port in the east, with a total length of168km.
2. Huai 'an Grand Canal, a branch of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Huai 'an city, became the main canal channel after excavation. It starts from the south control gate, crosses the main irrigation canal in the north and separates from the Li Canal, then turns to the southeast of Huaiyin city in the northwest, turns to the east bank of Erhe River in Yangzhuang in the west, and connects to the Zhong Canal in the west, with a total length of 17.96 km.
