Mistletoe is a shrubby plant of the genus Mistletoe in the family Mistletoe. It is a plant that is parasitic on other plants and can take water and inorganic matter from the host plant and photosynthesize to make nutrients.

Mistletoe, alias: northern parasitism, mulberry parasitism, willow parasitism, yellow parasitism, frozen green, parasitoid, is a shrub plant of the genus mistletoe in the family of Moraceae, usually parasitic on various trees of the hemp oak, apple, aspen, pine, harmful to the host, with a flexible green stem.

Leaves are oblanceolate, leathery, light green, in early spring, the leaves are divided into small stalks, bearing small flowers, light yellow, unisexual, dioecious, fruit translucent, yellowish-green; pulp with mucilage.

Growth habit:

The mistletoe, as its name implies, is a plant that is parasitic on other plants, and can draw water and inorganic matter from the host plant and photosynthesize to make nutrients.

It is evergreen, with yellow flowers and berries of various colors in winter. Mistletoe fruits have been recorded as orange-red when parasitized on elm trees, pale yellow when parasitized on poplar and maple poplar, and red or yellow when parasitized on pear or bilberry.

The mistletoe reproduces mainly by seed, and each fall and winter, its branches are covered with small orange-red fruits, and the birds that feed on the mistletoe's fruits include the gray starling, the justice of the peace bird, the lesser justice of the peace bird (commonly known as the hollyhock), and the brown-headed jay. In winter, these birds gather around the fruit-bearing mistletoe bushes and play around while taking and eating the fruit.

Because the flesh of the mistletoe fruit is rich in mucus, they rub their beaks on the branches as they eat, which causes the kernels to stick to the branches; some kernels are swallowed into their stomachs and are excreted in their feces, sticking to the branches.

These seeds don't sprout quickly, and it usually takes three to five years before they sprout and grow new twigs. Sometimes mistletoe seeds fall on mistletoe and grow small mistletoe as well.
