The planting methods of soft date and kiwi fruit include land selection and preparation, transplanting and colonization, male and female allocation, cultivating management, erecting scaffolding, and water and fertilizer management.
1. Site selection and preparation
For kiwi fruit cultivation, choose semi-sunny slope mountainous areas with loose soil, deep soil layers, high humus content, good lighting conditions, and gentle slopes. After site selection, prepare the land in strips with a depth of 20-30 cm, and apply 15-25 tons/ha of fully decomposed organic fertilizer.
2. Transplanting and planting
Plant kiwi fruit at a planting distance of 2.0 to 2.5 meters and a row spacing of 4 to 5 meters. When planting, first dig out a small amount of returned soil in the planting pit, put the seedlings into the pit, stretch the root system, return the soil to half the height of the seedlings, compact it lightly, and cover with soil after watering twice.
3. Male and female configuration
The jujube kiwi fruit is dioecious, so attention should be paid to the configuration of pollination trees. The ratio of female to male plants is 8:1. Newly planted seedlings should be watered in time to prevent drought, and appropriate amounts of top dressing should be combined with irrigation.
4. Cultivating management
Loosen the soil and weed 2-3 times a year to improve ground temperature and soil permeability. The loose soil area will gradually expand as the canopy expands.
5. Erect scaffolding
Scaffolding is required for kiwi climbing. Laterally growing branches have more flower buds than upright branches, are easier to manage and pick, and are suitable for trellis cultivation.
6. Water and fertilizer management
Soft date kiwi fruit likes temperature and humidity. If it is dry, water it in time. If it rains, it should be cleared in time. Water it thoroughly with antifreeze water before winter.
