Reproductive status:
During the breeding period, the parent fish will lay eggs in the roots of the water, about 1000. When hatching in 9 ~ 10 days, the parent fish will protect the eggs. River flooding will affect the success rate of hatching. It is difficult for piranha to breed in aquarium, which is also the reason for its high price, which is not as low as that of red-fin pomfret. They are sexually mature at 18 months, and the males will be more colorful.
During the breeding period, eggs will be laid at the roots of water, and the eggs are sticky. You can lay thousands of eggs at a time. The parent fish will protect the eggs, and the fertilized eggs will hatch after 9 ~ 10 days. The flooding of the river will affect the success rate of its reproduction.
Distribution range:
Piranhas are distributed in rivers east of the Andes in south-central South America. Coastal rivers in Brazil and Guyana. Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Guyana, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela all recorded it.
