How to make a desk calendar

01

Prepare A4 size white paper or colored cardboard. Cardboard paper is thicker than ordinary white paper, and calendars made of cardboard are more durable.

02

Use a ruler to draw a table with 7 vertical rows and 5 horizontal rows. Draw a table on 12 pieces of cardboard, each piece of paper represents a month.

Make sure that the width, width, and height of each cell are consistent, and no lines are bent.

Start with a pencil. Once you have adjusted the size of each cell and drawn straight lines, you can trace again with a permanent marker.

03

Write the month. Write the months at the top of each card—January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. The months should be written larger, using watercolor pens, colored pencils, or colored markers.

Make sure the month is written correctly.

04

Mark the day of the week. Write Monday through Friday on the first row of the table.

05

Fill in the date. The date should be written in the upper right corner of each cell. First find the previous year's calendar and see what day of the week the first day starts. For example, if the last day of December last year was Wednesday, then the first day of January this year will be Thursday.

Make sure the number of days in each month is accurate, because there are small and large months in the twelve months of the year.

In order to make it easier for you to remember the number of days in each month, you can remember this formula: April, June, September and November have 31 days, and there are 30 days except February. February in ordinary years has 28 days. There are 29 days in February in leap years.

06

Decorated calendar. Each calendar page can be decorated according to your own wishes. Watercolors, colored pencils, markers, and crayons are all available; stickers, sequins, and glitter glue are also great; most importantly, use your imagination!

07

Mark important dates. Mark all the important dates on your calendar, like birthdays, Christmas, the first day of school, etc. A more creative way is to find a picture related to this day and paste it on the corresponding date.

For example, if your sister’s birthday is on May 6th, you would cut out a photo of her and paste it on May 6th.

You can also post a picture of a Christmas tree on December 25th; a witch or ghost on Halloween; and a fluffy bunny on Easter.

08

Hang up the calendar. Cut two holes in the top of each piece of cardboard, making sure the edges of the holes are smooth. Find a long piece of string, twine or cotton and thread both ends into the holes so you can hang it up.

Hang the calendar on a hook or nail, whether you want to hang it in your bedroom, kitchen, or classroom.

Don’t forget, you can put a cross on the date every time it passes.

Make a hand-shred calendar

01

Cut out 10cm*10cm pieces of paper. You need 365 pieces of paper like this, so you can cut several at the same time, which is more convenient if you have a paper cutter. If you don’t have a paper cutter, just find a piece of cardboard and cut it into a size of 10cm*10cm. Then use this piece of cardboard as a template. Every time you cut a piece of paper in the future, just put the paper on it and cut it along the Just cut along the edges of the cardboard.

02

Cut two holes at the top of each page and hang the calendar. You can also cut out several pieces of paper at the same time, but every time you change a pile of paper, you must take a piece of paper with holes cut out before. Otherwise, if the holes are cut differently, the calendar will be a mess after hanging it up.

03

String the calendar paper together. Thread two pieces of wire or string through the two holes, and then tie the wire or string tightly to prevent it from loosening after hanging.

04

Write the date. Start writing on January 1st and put the date in the lower right corner of each page. Important dates can be marked with a highlighter, so that when you flip through the calendar, you can easily find the important dates. Remember, if it’s a leap year, February has 29 days!

05

Decorated calendar. You can decorate the calendar with watercolors or markers, or add some pictures or stickers. Calendars sold in stores may give you some inspiration. In short, it’s up to you to decide your calendar, give full play to your imagination!
