Chen Xiaoqing, born in 1965 in Lingbi, Anhui Province, graduated from the Communication University of China (formerly the Beijing Broadcasting Institute) in 1986, majoring in photography, and in the same year was recommended to be exempted from the examination for a master's degree in the field of photographic aesthetics, and in 1989 graduated from the China Central Television (CCTV) as a writer and director of the "Local Station 30 Minutes" program. He is now the producer of the program "Witness - Image Journal" in the Cultural Special Department of CCTV Social Education Center, and started shooting documentaries in 1991. His representative works include "Song of the Forest" and "China on the Tip of the Tongue".
