Coconut is neither a hot fruit nor a cool fruit. The pulp of coconut is cool and the juice of coconut is warm. Coconuts are divided into tall coconuts and dwarf coconuts. The tall coconut plants are 15 to 30 meters tall, with enlarged bases, pollinated from different plants, and begin to bear fruit in 7 to 8 years. They have high oil content and a long economic life. 70~80 years.
Dwarf coconut plants are only 5 to 15 meters high. They are self-pollinated and begin to bear fruit in 3 to 4 years. They have small and numerous fruits, thin and soft coconut meat, low oil content, and an economic life of 30 to 40 years. Mainly used as fruit, hybrid parent and ornamental.
Coconut meat can be squeezed for oil, eaten raw, cooked into vegetables, or made into coconut milk, grated coconut, shredded coconut, canned coconut paste, coconut sugar, and biscuits.
The trunks can be used as building materials, and the leaves can be used for roofing or weaving. The coconut tree has a beautiful shape and is an excellent tree species for greening and beautifying the environment in tropical areas.
