1 age fish reach sexual maturity, spawning period is from April to early June, and spawning grounds are mostly in leeward lake bay. On a clear night or at noon, the male fish first camp in caves, broken crocks and clam shells on the shore with a water depth of 1-2 meters, and make a "goo goo" sound to lure the female fish into the nest. Oviposition usually takes place at 6-7 am, and the water temperature is about 18-25℃. Eggs are neatly arranged and adhered to mussels, tiles or stones. The females leave after laying eggs, while the males keep nests to protect the eggs until the larvae hatch.
