Europe and the United States are rarely cultivated, originated in Asia. Mostly distributed in the provinces south of the Yangtze River, in addition to alpine and arid areas, there is no distribution boundary in China, east to the coastal provinces, west to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, south to Sanya City, Hainan Province, north to the city of Mohe, Heilongjiang Province, from the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River plains to the Tibetan Plateau are mustard cultivation. The seven most widely cultivated varieties in China are: potherb mustard, squash mustard, oil mustard, large-leafed mustard, multi-fractured-leafed mustard, wrinkled-leafed mustard, and Shuidong mustard.
