Xueyan was brought by Lin Daiyu from the Lin family. Without confirming whether the nanny Wang was Jia Min's roommate, Xueyan was the only Lin family member around Daiyu. Although Snow Goose is not as important as Zicuckoo, in Lin Daiyu's heart, Snow Goose is her only family. However, Xue Yan was tied to Lin Daiyu all her life. After Lin Daiyu's death, her ending was worrying. Zhi Yanzhai hinted at the ending of Xue Yan's death.
Lin Daiyu was about seven years old when she entered Beijing, and Xueyan was older than Lin Daiyu. Jia's mother looked at her childish face, so she was probably only ten years old. Although Xueyan doesn't appear much, Zijuan always treats her as a child, and Cao Xueqin also writes that she is childish. But Xueyan is not an idle writer after all. The word "Xueyan" represents Lin Daiyu's lonely and wandering life.
Lin Daiyu said in "Tang Duoling Catkin Ci":
The powder falls on Baihua Island, and the fragrance lingers on the Swallow Tower. A group of people formed a pair one by one.
Wandering is like a person's life is thin, the air is lingering, talking about romance.
The grass and trees also know their sorrow, and their youth turns gray! Sigh: Who will give up and who will take back in this life?
I don’t care about the east wind and spring when I marry, just go with me and endure the flood to stay.
"Wandering is like losing your life... Marrying with the east wind and spring, regardless of whether you go with it or endure the flood," the name Xueyan is a reflection of Lin Daiyu's "wandering" fate.
Snow geese are originally long-distance migratory birds. The journey from the place where they live to the place of migration is long and difficult, and they often cannot return. Lin Daiyu's life came to an end in migration. After her parents died, she left her hometown and was destined to never return. "Snow Goose" also implies that the Jia family is not Lin Daiyu's final destination.
Chapter 62) Daiyu said: "You drink one more hour, I will say it for you." Baoyu really drank, and heard Daiyu say:
Luo The clouds and the solitary owl flew together, the wind was strong and the geese were mourning across the river and sky, but it was a broken-footed goose, its cry was so heart-wrenching, it was the swan goose's guest.
Daiyu picked up another hazelnut and said, talking about the bottom of the wine:
How can there be the sound of thousands of households pounding clothes unless the hazelnut is on an anvil across the courtyard.
The falling clouds allude to Shi Xiangyun, and the solitary duck is a wild duck, representing Xue Baoqin. Lin Daiyu used this to indicate that the two of them were not related to Jia Baoyu. "Guo Yan's Sorrow", "The Broken-footed Geese" and "Hongyan's Guest" represent Lin Daiyu's tragic life of losing her parents at an early age and being helpless, having a love affair with Jia Baoyu but having no one to make the decision.
"Hazelnuts are not kept on the anvil across the courtyard, how can there be the sound of thousands of households pounding clothes" metaphors that Lin Daiyu was sincere, but Xue Baochai's good marriage of gold and jade interfered, and the good marriage of gold and jade supported everyone, just like "Ten thousand households pounding clothes" "Sound" as noisy. And Lin Daiyu's ending is like what Li Bai sang in "Midnight Wu Song: Autumn Song?":
A moonlit sky in Chang'an, the sound of thousands of households pounding their clothes.
The autumn wind never blows away, but there is always love between the two.
Whenever the Hulu are defeated, a good man will stop his expedition.
"A good man quits his expedition", implying that Lin Daiyu married into a foreign country like Wang Zhaojun who said "Don't blame the east wind and sigh yourself" in the hibiscus flower sign. Lin Daiyu uses the goose as a metaphor for herself, which is also a reflection of Xue Yan's life and destiny.
The reason why Lin Daiyu married in a foreign country was because Jia Yucun betrayed Xiangling to the "stupid overlord" Xue Pan. The problem also lies with Jia Yucun. In Chapter 72, Jia Yucun was demoted again. In order to save himself, Jia Baoyu was "wronged (Feng Yuan)" and forced Lin Daiyu and Jia Tanchun to marry in a foreign country. "The jade asked for a good price in the coffin, and the hairpin came from "Waiting for time to fly in the bed" is consistent with the commentaries of the 18th chapter of Zhiyanzhai:
The first "Luxury Banquet"; Gengchen's double line commentaries: the defeat of the Fu Jia family in "A Handful of Snow" . ?
There are two prototypes of "A Dream of Red Mansions" in "A Handful of Snow".
First, Tang Qin, who was ungrateful and betrayed his benefactor, was the prototype of Jia Yucun.
Secondly, Mo Huaigu, who was "unjustly" persecuted by Tang Qin and his family was ruined, his concubine's name was Xue Yan, which is homophonic to Xue Yan. Mo Huaigu was framed because Tang Qin coveted Xueyan.
Cao Xueqin borrowed the name Xueyan from "A Handful of Snow" to Xueyan, which clearly implies that Xueyan's ending is not good.
In "A Handful of Snow", Xue Yan is coveted by the villain Tang Qin, which leads to the death of her "husband" Mo Huaigu's family. She pretended to commit herself to the wolf for revenge, and committed suicide after killing her enemy Tang Qin on the wedding night. She was a fierce and righteous woman. It is impossible for Xue Yan to repeat Xue Yan’s story.
But the words between Zijuan and Lin Daiyu in Chapter 57 were not very auspicious. (Chapter 57 Zijuan said) Although there are many sons, princes, and grandsons, which one does not have three wives and five concubines, facing east today and west tomorrow? It only takes three nights and five eves for a fairy to come, and it is left behind, and even turns against the concubine and the girl...
How did Cao Xueqin give the ending to "Dream of Red Mansions" eighty times later? It is speculated that the cuckoo means "the cuckoo cries blood", and the snow of the snow goose makes blood flow. It is impossible for these two girls to be separated from Lin Daiyu. Once Lin Daiyu dies, their lives will be related to "blood", which is obviously not good.
The "goose that breaks its legs" and "the goose that passes over its sorrow" that Lin Daiyu said are not snow geese? Without Lin Daiyu, she would have lost her legs and wings, how could she survive.
Note: Xue Yan will never betray Lin Daiyu as mentioned in the 80th chapter of the follow-up book.
