(1) White pea: another famous vegetable pea. The flowers are white, the seeds are spherical, yellow-white or slightly blue-green, and the seed coat shrinks after maturity. Plants are tender, pods are used as vegetables, leaves and stems are used as feed, and roots are used as fertilizer. There are more plants planted in the Yangtze River basin and its south, but less in the north.
(2) Purple peas: or cereal peas. Flowers are purple, but there are also red or yellow-blue flowers. The seeds are grayish brown, grayish green, grayish yellow or gray with small spots of various colors, and the plants are tall, cold-resistant and resistant to harsh environments. High yield, but poor quality, suitable for large-scale planting, can be used as feed and green manure crops. It is planted in the north and northwest of the Yangtze River in China.
