Career
Aliadiere signed for Arsenal before the 1999-2000 season and was always considered the successor to ace Henry? But with Henry at the helm of the club for so long, Aliadiere's career has been characterized by injuries and back-up roles. His first win came in 2001-02, a 4-1 win against Fulham, when he came on as a substitute for Henry, and his first league goal came in 2002-03, a 5-2 win over West Bromwich on August 27, 2002. He was promoted to the club's first team for the 2003-04 season, and along with seven games as a substitute, he had already played 10 matches. However, he was unlucky to pick up an injury at the start of the following season and was out until February. After that, he played 6 matches, but failed to score; however, he did score 8 goals in 5 matches for the Juniors. Despite his lack of appearances, he extended his contract with Arsenal in 2005 until 2009. He also holds the record for the most goals scored in the Youth FA Cup. Former France coach Clairefontaine said; "The best French strikers of the last 10 years, Henry, Anrika and Aliadiere, all played for Arsenal." In the 2003-04 season, Aliadiere won the League Cup Young Player of the Year. Due to his lack of appearances at Arsenal, he was loaned out to Celtic for the 2005-06 season, but failed - Aliadiere played only two games, all as a reserve - before being loaned out to West Ham United on August 24, 2005, where he was injured after only eight games, seven of which were as a substitute. On January 31, 2006, he moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers, before returning to Arsenal at the end of the season. 2006-07 saw Aliadiere stay at Arsenal, but his appearances remained the same. He played mainly in the English League Cup, scoring two goals in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich on October 24, 2006; a goal in a 6-3 win against Liverpool in the last eight on January 9, 2007; and a goal in the first half of extra time against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals to take a 2-1 lead. He played four games for Arsenal during the season; including his 37th game at Arsenal on January 9, 2007, which was his first in the competition. He played four games for Arsenal this season; including on January 9, 2007, his 37th game for Arsenal (25 as a substitute), scoring eight goals (all in the League Cup). When the transfer market reopened in January, Unga gave him permission to leave, but another scorer, Yumpez, broke his foot, so he said he would stay. Middlesbrough were interested in buying Aliadiere before his injury, but he turned it down and moved to Middlesbrough for the 07/08 season, scoring his first Premier League goal in October 07 against Manchester United.
