Alias wild horse bean, Sophora tonkinensis root, Sophora tonkinensis and sweet potato.

It comes from Vigna vexillata (L.)Benth. of Leguminosae Vigna genus, and is used as medicine by roots. Picked in autumn, washed and dried.

Bitter and cold in nature.

Functions: clearing away heat and toxic materials, relieving swelling and pain, and benefiting throat. It can be used for toothache due to wind and fire, sore throat, parotitis, furuncle, infantile measles, stomachache, abdominal distension, constipation, traumatic swelling and pain, and fracture.

Usage and dosage: 3 ~ 5 yuan. Apply a proper amount of fresh roots to the affected area.

Remarks (1) Yunnan wild cowpea Vigna Vexillata (L.) Benth. Var. Yunnanensis France. Also known as Sophora tonkinensis, Sophora tonkinensis, Wild Soup Bean, Wild Radish, and Xihuoxue. Also used as medicine by root, the effect is similar.
