Autumn pear tastes sour and sweet, and is cold in nature. It can produce fluid, quench thirst, moisten the lungs, clear the heart, stimulate the intestines and detoxify. It has a good therapeutic effect on symptoms such as polydipsia, hot stuffiness in the chest, dry cough due to dryness of the lungs, and constipation caused by febrile diseases. Qiuli paste is also called snow pear paste. It is actually made from white pears (ya pear, snow pear) as the main raw material, and other traditional Chinese medicines such as fritillary, honey, and Sichuan Fritillary for relieving cough, promoting fluid production, and moistening the lungs. The ointment has the functions of promoting body fluids, reducing fire, nourishing yin, moistening the lungs, and relieving cough.
Due to the high sugar content of Qiuli paste, experts suggest that it is best not to eat Qiuli paste directly. It can be diluted with warm water to reduce its sweetness and the effect is better. Generally, a portion of Qiuli paste mixed with 4-8 times water is more suitable.
People with cold spleen and stomach, cold hands and feet, loose stools and diarrhea, and Yang Qi deficiency should not eat Qiuli paste to avoid aggravation of symptoms of deficiency and cold and making diarrhea more likely. In addition, due to the high sugar content of Qiuli paste, diabetics are advised not to consume it.
