Yogurt is easier to absorb than pure milk. Yogurt is good because it contains more nutrients than pure milk.
Yogurt has high nutritional value, and parents are also happy to let their children drink yogurt. However, Qi Kemin, director of the Nutrition Center of the Pediatric Research Institute of Beijing Children's Hospital, reminded that babies under one year old should not drink yogurt.
Professor Qi said that in infancy, the gastrointestinal system was underdeveloped, the gastric mucosal barrier was not perfect, and the activity of gastric acid and pepsin was low, which was only 1/2 of that of adults at 4-6 months. Yogurt is processed by acidification, and its PH value is low. After entering the gastrointestinal tract, it will "corrode" the baby's delicate gastrointestinal mucosa and affect digestion and absorption.
In addition, the microbial flora in the baby's gastrointestinal tract is in the stage of growth and change, and it is still unstable. Drinking yogurt may lead to excessive intake of Lactobacillus acidophilus, resulting in imbalance of original microbial flora in the intestine, which may lead to intestinal diseases.
Therefore, children under one year old should not drink yogurt. Children over one year old can drink yogurt, but don't drink on an empty stomach. It turns out that the environment in the stomach on an empty stomach is not conducive to the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus, which will make yogurt lose its due nutritional value, so it is best to drink it two hours after meals.
