Beef cattle feeding technology

The main task of beef cattle breeding is feeding, and feeding is the main work of breeding. Feeding should be based on different growth and development stages, as well as the breed of beef cattle and the characteristics of the food consumed. In addition, the main task of beef cattle is fattening, mainly to increase body weight. In addition, attention should be paid to cleanliness and disease prevention when raising, and sometimes it is necessary to prevent epidemics and deworm by raising. Next, let’s take a look at how beef cattle are raised.

1. Nutritional requirements

A beef cow requires about 2.3% of dry matter, 0.8g of protein, more energy, and about 15g of calcium and phosphorus. About 6 kilograms of hay, 6 kilograms of straw, 3 kilograms of concentrated feed, 0.05 kilogram of salt, 8 kilograms of green feed, and about 2 kilograms of corn meal are fed a day. Mix them together. Green fodder can be fed separately.

2. Feeding and management

Beef cattle mainly eat green feed, roughage and dry feed. Therefore, it is best to graze for a long time so that the cattle can eat freely, or to cut grass for feeding on rainy and snowy days. The grazing period is mainly during the fattening period, probably between May and October. It mainly tracks and observes which grasses the cattle mainly eat, so that a variety of such grasses can be planted. It also needs to observe the status of the cattle, and only needs to feed 2 kilograms of concentrated feed every day.

3. Green feed feeding

The main food for beef cattle is green feed, but try to provide a variety of green feed, and do not keep a single green feed for a long time, because some green feed is rich in nutrients. Some green feeds are single and have different nutrients, so they must be nutritionally balanced. Edible grasses include ryegrass, Sudan grass and other high-quality grasses, and straw mainly includes corn stalks, rice straw, sweet potato vines and vegetable vines. Commonly used concentrated feeds can include corn flour, peanut cake, soybean flour, wheat bran, etc. Forage grass can be harvested and fed multiple times, straw can be dried and stored in winter, and concentrated feed can be processed at any time.

4. Concentrate feeding

When feeding roughage and green fodder, the feed should be cleaned or dried and disinfected. It is generally fed chopped so that it is easier to digest. It is also necessary to add salt to the concentrated feed. Whole grains can be fermented and fed to grass. Green feed should be cleaned before feeding after storage. Concentrate consumption is fed according to different cows. After two months of pregnancy, feed cows 50 grams of bone meal and 30 grams of salt. Within two months after delivery, feed 60 grams of bone meal and 50 grams of salt every day. Lean cows should be fed 1 pound of concentrate every day.

The main goal of beef cattle breeding is to fatten and gain weight, but to maintain healthy growth and development. Therefore, for different feeding periods, feed should have its own feeding amount and be distributed reasonably. In addition, attention should also be paid to the reasonable handling of feed, keeping it clean, mold-free, and nutritious. It is better to feed beef cattle this way.
