The river juan fish, also known as green juan, green stick or army fish, belongs to the genus Barb_ of the carp family. And is in the same genus as the green jenny, but a different species.

The green bamboo fish mainly live in Vietnam and China's very south of the water system, the Pearl River is more distributed. The army fish, on the other hand, is more common in China's Yangtze River Basin and some of the water systems to the south.
