Although the Ministry of Health and Welfare has implemented the "Regulations on Labeling of On-the-spot Blended Drinks in Chain Beverage Convenience Stores and Fast Food Industry" and standardized the manufacturers of hand-cranked beverages, the added sugar content and total sugar content of beverages should be marked in obvious places in the shops where they are sold. However, because it is difficult to calculate the calories of added ingredients, there is no need to indicate the calories, so there is actually a huge gap between what you see and what you drink.
"Added ingredients" are not calories.
For example, Li Fengao, director of Dong Shi Foundation, said, "Suppose you order a cup of brown sugar pearl fresh milk, wax gourd and west Gu Mi, because brown sugar pearl, wax gourd dew (brick) and west Gu Mi are classified as ingredients, and fresh milk has no extra sugar, so this kind of beverage can be legally labeled as sugar-free, calorie-free, or labeled as 0." Others like fruit pulp, melon dew, rice balls, red beans, mung beans and so on. It's the same.
But in fact, a large part of the heat of the hand-cranked cup comes from these added ingredients. According to a survey conducted by the Dongshi Foundation, the difference in calories between the same beverage with and without ingredients can be up to 4.2 times.
A cup of handmade sugar exceeds the daily limit.
According to the recommendation of the National Dietary Index Manual published by the national health department, the daily intake of added sugar should not exceed 10% of the total calories.
"Added sugar refers to sugar or syrup added in the process of making or preparing food, excluding naturally occurring sugar in food, such as milk and fruit. Based on 2000 calories per day for adults, the added sugar should not provide more than 200 calories, about 50 grams of sugar. 」
However, according to the survey of Dong Shi Foundation, almost all drinks have exceeded the daily sugar intake limit. The intake of 700ml full sugar drinks with ingredients 1 cup, taking "red bean milk tea" with the highest calorie as an example, accounts for 40% of the total daily calories of male adults.
"Sugar" is a major source of illness for China people.
According to statistics, the biggest source of sugar intake in China is sugary drinks. Many studies at home and abroad have pointed out that eating too much sugar can easily increase the risk of many diseases, such as low immunity, unstable blood sugar, tooth decay, skin aging, acne, obesity, and even easily lead to hypertension, gout, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. In the long run, it will increase the risk of diseases such as fractures and Alzheimer's disease, and it will also cause great emotional fluctuations.
In view of this, the World Health Organization suggests reducing the sugar intake to less than 5% of the total daily calories to prevent many diseases.
The Board of Directors Foundation suggested that the policy of hand-cranked cups should implement inspection management, levy (sugar) tax, pay attention to the risk of sugar content and the source of heat, improve laws and regulations, and make the label more in line with the actual heat of drinks. "Most importantly, everyone should try to avoid the intake of sugary drinks. Even if they can't quit smoking immediately, they should do it step by step to avoid further damage to health caused by sugar, "said Xu, director of the Directors Foundation.
