The author of "Carp Jumps over the Dragon Gate" is Jin Jin. Jin Jin (1915-1989) was originally named Jin Zhiwen. A native of Shangyu County, Zhejiang Province. He went to private school when he was young. He moved to Shanghai at the age of twelve and worked as an apprentice, proofreader, scribe, reporter, editor, and teacher. Began publishing works in 1937. Since the 1950s, he has served as a script writer at Changchun Film Studio and Shanghai Art Film Studio, editor and consultant of "Children's Literature" magazine, and deputy director of the Children's Literature Committee of the Chinese Writers Association. The main published works include: children's poetry collections "Little Mao's Life", "Winter Roses", "Little Captain's Troubles", fairy tale collections "Red Grimace Shell", "Spring Girl and Grandpa Snow", "Fairy Tales Blowing in the Spring Breeze", "Jin Jin's Fairy Tales" "Collection", novellas "New Things in the Mountain Village" and "Three Orphans", novel collections "Black Eyes of the Calf", "Truancy" and "Collected Works of Jin Jin", etc. He was awarded the Honorary Award in the second National Children's Literary and Art Creation Awards.
