Eel, also known as: white eel, white eel, river eel, eel, blue eel, steamed bun, Japanese eel. Eel refers to the general name of species belonging to the order Anguillaria. Also known as eel, it is a fish that looks like a long snake and has the basic characteristics of a fish. In addition, eels have migratory characteristics similar to salmon. Eels are fish that resemble snakes but have no scales. They are generally found in waters where saltwater and freshwater meet.
1. Breeding farm conditions
1. Water source: Rivers and lakes are the main sources in plain areas, and streams and springs are the main sources in mountainous areas. It is best to have underground water so that deep well water can be extracted for later use. Breeding farms consume a lot of water, so the amount of water must be sufficient. Generally, it takes about 25 cubic meters of water to grow 1 kilogram of edible eels, so this is the basis for the design. Suitable water quality is a pH value of 7~8, a transparency of more than 20 cm, and no industrial sewage hazard.
2. Power supply: The farm needs sufficient power supply. Generally, each mu of eel pond needs to be equipped with an aerator with 1 kilowatt power. An eel farm with an annual output of 100 tons of edible eels requires at least one 150 kVA transformer, and must ensure no power outages all year round.
3. Others: Loam is the best soil quality for the construction site. The terrain must be flat and the climate must be warm. If the warm drainage or hot spring water from the thermal power plant can be used, the benefits will be more obvious. In addition, land and water transportation must be convenient. To transport feed and commercial eels.
2. Design of eel-raising ponds
There are two types of eel-raising ponds currently common in my country: open-air still water type and waste heat warm flowing water type. The key points for building the pond are as follows:
1. Open-air still-water eel ponds: Using natural water such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs and groundwater as water sources, the pond construction cost is low and consumes less electricity, but the yield is low. Generally, the yield per mu is only 1 to 2 tons. This is The current main breeding method in my country is that the average eel farm scale is 50 acres of water surface. Its eel ponds are graded and raised according to different sizes of eels, usually divided into four types: first, second, third grade and edible eel ponds. The shape of the pool is usually round or oval, with water injection and drainage inlets crossing each other, anti-escape facilities are set up, and a food shed is set up beside the pool facing the sun and leeward direction.
2. Warm flowing water type eel farming pond: The water temperature is required to be controlled at around 27°C, the optimal water temperature for eel growth, and flowing water culture is carried out. Its advantages are less disease, fast growth and high yield. It is currently the most advanced breeding method.
3. Breeding Technology
The cultivation of edible eels is the process of growing eels weighing about 20 grams into commercial eels weighing 150 grams. Breeding methods can be divided into three types: exclusive breeding, mixed breeding and mixed breeding. The key lies in feed feeding, water quality management and disease prevention. Feeding requires quality, positioning, quantity and timing. Water quality management should focus on water quality cultivation and control to prevent water damage. The normal water quality of eel ponds is bright green, with a transparency of about 20 cm and a pH value of 7.5-8.5. At this time, eels eat vigorously and grow rapidly.
1. Fresh feed: Commonly used fresh feed for eels include silkworms, beauty fleas, sword water fleas, chironomid larvae, river mussels, yellow clams, snails, small fish, shrimps and animal offal, etc. , fresh feed feeding effect is better.
2. Compound feed: Compound feed should be formulated with various raw materials in proportion according to the nutritional requirements of eels at different growth and development stages. Because of its advantages of complete nutritional content, convenient storage and transportation, and economic benefits, it is Ideal feed for developing eel farming.
