Bovine tuberculosis, which we will cover today, is a serious disease that can infect humans. It is an important animal disease prevention and control. A variety of diseases often occur in the process of raising cattle. The diseases that occur in different breeds of cattle are different, but there are some diseases that occur commonly. These diseases are either highly fatal or occur frequently.
1. Infectious manifestations Dairy cows and buffaloes are susceptible to the disease and can be easily infected by other animals. The disease has an incubation period of about half a month. During this period, the cow will be lethargic and have shortness of breath. In the later stages, different symptoms appear depending on the main site of infection with the bacteria. Tuberculosis of the lungs causes coughing and a friction sound on auscultation; Lymphatic tuberculosis causes lymphatic enlargement around the jaw; Mammary tuberculosis, low milk, enlarged and lumpy udder; Intestinal tuberculosis causes diarrhea symptoms. Prevention: 1. Quarantine Herds will be quarantined regularly throughout the year. If problems are found, they will be immediately quarantined and treated and returned to the herd when they are healthy. When purchasing breeding cows, they must be quarantined for 1 month and then quarantined again. Only after no disease can they enter the farm to breed together, and no patients infected with tuberculosis enter the farm. 2, epidemic prevention Checked once a month. If sick cows are found, they can be isolated and treated in time. Seriously ill cows can be slaughtered directly. The usual observation of suspected susceptible cows and poorly performing cows should be isolated in time, and healthy cows and suspected cows are kept separately. Be careful not to mix sick cows with healthy ones. Sick cattle need long-term treatment and repeated visits. 3. Disinfection Thoroughly disinfect and clean the entire farm every year, clean the cattle pens daily, and regularly clean the manure and other dirt from the stockyard. The farm floor should be cleaned and sprayed with powder. When cleaning the ground, the cattle should also be cleaned. Food utensils should be regularly sterilized at high temperature. 4. Breeding cattle control measures Adhere to artificial insemination reproduction; use frozen semen of good breeds to raise cattle; when buying cattle, they must be strictly quarantined and isolated for a period of time. After confirming that there is no tuberculosis, it can be categorized as a group. Bovine tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium bovis, which is mainly transmitted through the respiratory and digestive tracts of cattle. Mycobacterium bovis is excreted with nasal fluid, saliva, feces, urine, etc., contaminating feed, water and air.
