Lianyungang has three districts.
Lianyungang, referred to as Lian for short, was called Yi, Donghai, Haizhou, Yuzhou and Haining in ancient times. It is also called the port city. It is named Lianyungang because it faces Liandao and is backed by Yuntai Mountain, and because of the seaport. It is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. Lianyungang is located in the northeast of Jiangsu Province, on the west bank of Haizhou Bay, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east, Xuzhou and Suqian in the west, Huai 'an and Yancheng in the south and Rizhao and Linyi in Shandong in the north.
Lianyungang has jurisdiction over Haizhou District, Lianyun District, Ganyu District, Donghai County, Guanyun County and guannan county. Lianyungang is the eastern bridgehead of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge and a national comprehensive transportation hub, which has the advantages of combining sea transportation and land transportation. Lianyungang is the first batch of coastal open cities in China, a national regional cooperation demonstration zone in the East, West and East, and an important part of the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Lianyungang is rich in natural resources, and the climatic conditions and the diversity of landform types in the transition from north to south are conducive to the development of a plant population system with both north and south characteristics in Lianyungang. The territory is rich in rice, wheat, cotton, soybeans and peanuts, and it is an important production base of agricultural and sideline products such as grain, cotton, oil, fruits and vegetables. Coral vegetables and gold-inlaid jade bamboo are rare and precious specialties in Jiangsu Province.
Yunwu tea in Yuntai Mountain is one of the three famous teas in Jiangsu. Terrestrial animals are mainly artificially raised livestock and poultry varieties, with 12 families, 18 genera and more than 9 varieties. There are 225 species of birds, including 31 rare and protected birds in the country. Haizhou Bay Fishing Ground, one of the eight largest fishing grounds in China, Huaibei Salt Field, one of the four largest sea salt producing areas in China, and the largest laver breeding and processing base in China.
