Jiayu County is subordinate to Xianning City, Hubei Province. It is located at113 39'-114 22' east longitude and 29 48'-3019' north latitude. It is located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, bordering Wuhan in the north, chibi city in the south and Wuhan in the east. Located at the junction of Mufu Mountain and Jianghan Plain, it can be divided into three landforms: Yangtze River alluvial plain, southwest ridge plain and cutting residual hills, and generally forms a landform pattern of "one mountain, three rivers, four fields, two roads and manor".

Jiayu is an ancient cultural city with a long history and rich culture. The ancient name of Jiayu County was Shayangbao, which belonged to Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Shayang County was set up in the first year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (AD 280), and Baoda1kloc-0/year in the South Tang Dynasty (AD 953) was named after the book of songs, Xiaoya Nanyou Jiayu, and the county was established for more than 1730 years. This is the base camp of Wu Jun, the "Battle of Red Cliffs" of the Three Kingdoms, the hometown of Er Qiao, and the important place of Yuefei's anti-Jin station in the Southern Song Dynasty.
