My name on forms, letters, and couriers is often "Xue so-and-so," as long as it is handwritten.

Often, I was called "pī so-and-so," and the pī looked up at me expectantly as if to say, "Did I pronounce it right?"

But it's not pronounced pī.

"Guangyun" (广韵)薜音蒲计切, which translates to "bì" in Mandarin, and "Bo'er切" (博厄切), which translates to "bò.

So I figured out that they should probably pronounce it pì, but I'm embarrassed to be called "fart so-and-so," so I'll just pronounce it pī.
