First of all, we must know that only male peacocks can naturally open their screens, which is in line with the laws of nature. The male peacock is more beautiful than the female peacock, but the female peacock can't open the screen, mainly because its tail feathers are very short.
Male peacocks spread their beautiful tail screens for three reasons.
1. Courtship: Every spring is the breeding season for peacocks. At this time, the male peacock secretes sex hormones to stimulate the brain, and the tail screen will be erected high and spread out with great fanfare, colorful and flickering. There will also be courtship, and the tail screen will vibrate and make a courtship sound. When they attract their favorite peacocks, they will breed together.
2. Scare: Some scholars believe that when male peacocks see a large number of bright red and green mobile suits, hear strange sounds, or encounter danger, they will be alert and open their screens. At this time, opening the screen is the peacock's defense and demonstration of the unknown. Just as domestic hens are frightened, they sometimes erect their short feathers to show their resistance to dangerous things.
Third, protection: we know that there are many beautiful lines on the tail screen of male peacocks, and there are many round stripes, which are like eyes and distributed with many colors. When they meet the enemy and have no time to escape, they will open the screen, shake the tail screen and make a sound. The circular stripes will be confused with the vibration of the peacock, and the enemy will think it is a multi-eyed monster and dare not go forward.
We all know that complacency is beautiful, but if you go to the zoo and see peacocks, don't scare them to satisfy your visual desire. Civilization starts with me!
