At the time of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhang Ga, a young boy living in Baiyangdian, Jizhong, was dependent on his grandmother. In order to cover Zhong Liang, a scouting company commander of the Eighth Route Army, who was recuperating from a wound in his house, his grandmother heroically sacrificed herself under the bayonets of the Japanese army, while Zhong Liang was also captured by the enemy. To avenge his grandmother's death and rescue his old Uncle Zhong, Gazi went through hardships and found the Eighth Route Army and became a small scout....... The movie "Little Soldier Zhang Ga" tells the story of a young Eighth Route fighting and growing up.

The movie won the first prize of the 2nd China Children's and Youth Literary and Artistic Creation Award in 1980. Later, the story of Little Soldier Zhang Ga was adapted into a TV series.
