It is said that silkworm excrement is good at eliminating dampness and expelling wind, which can not only eliminate dampness in gastrointestinal tract to treat vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain caused by dampness, but also dispel wind in bones and muscles, arthralgia due to wind-cold and dampness, and joint stiffness.
The differentiation between silkworm excrement and papaya has the effects of expelling wind and removing dampness, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals, and regulating stomach turbidity. It can be used for rheumatism and arthralgia, tendon contracture, vomiting and diarrhea caused by summer-dampness injury, but papaya is specially used for tendon contracture, and can also be used for treating beriberi, swelling and pain, and dyspepsia. However, silkworm excrement is mostly used for rheumatic joint pain or hemiplegia, and also for eczema and itching.
