The chemical composition of the above-ground parts of Dian Bai Zhu was studied. Various chromatographic techniques were applied for isolation and purification, and the structures of the compounds were identified by MS and NMR analysis.

Results Seven compounds were isolated and identified as (i) quercetin-3-O-β-D glucuronide, (ii) kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucuronide, (iii) methyl gentiobutyric acid, (iv) methyl salicylate, (v) baijiuzhuoside, (vi) dianbaizhuzu A, and (vii) dianbaizhuzuin.
