The Battle of Huangqiao, also known as the Huangqiao Incident, was fought in 1940, when the New Fourth Army's North Jiangsu Command under Chen Yi's leadership, with a force of 7,000 men (only 5,000 real combatants), defeated 30,000 government troops led by Jiangsu Provincial Chairman Han Deqin (only 15,000 men of Han's 89th Army were actually involved in the battle), wiped out more than 11,000 of his men, and won the decisive battle of Huangqiao.
