Besides the bad taste of cats, there are several reasons that influenced the ancients not to eat cat meat. First of all, cats are not easy to be caught, because wild cats have strong viability and are extremely cunning, and second, domestic cats are generally treated as pets. Cats can't be kept in captivity on a large scale like pigs, cattle and sheep, so it is much more difficult to raise cats than to raise other livestock. In addition, cats are omnivorous animals, which eat both small bugs and big mice, and are particularly susceptible to parasites, which can be transmitted to humans.
But people will eat everything they see in the extreme state. Among the eight major cuisines, there is a dish called Cantonese cuisine. Long Hudou? The dragon refers to the snake, while the tiger refers to the cat. This dish can strengthen the spleen and stimulate the appetite. Although our country doesn't eat cat meat and is not interested in it, there is one country that is interested in cat meat, and that is Vietnam.
It was only during the war that Vietnam began to eat cats. Due to the large population in Vietnam, the number of wild cats could not meet the needs of the local people, and some cats kept in families were also grabbed and eaten. But everything happens for a reason. Vietnamese people love cats so much that plague broke out in 1997. At that time, the government also explicitly banned restaurants at all levels from serving cat meat, but some people took it seriously and still smuggled and sold cats. We should take this as a warning.
