Reading at night is the story of Hou Jin. Hou Jin, Zi Zi Yu, was a self-taught person in Dunhuang, Gansu Province in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. In his youth, Hou Jin was famous in Dunhuang because of his diligence and outstanding talent. The imperial court invited Hou Jin to be an official in Dunhuang many times, but all of them were politely declined. Later, in order to get rid of the harassment of other people, I moved directly to the mountains to nest. Because of my poor family, I want to study in the dark, and I have no money to buy lamp oil. I can only light firewood and read by the fire.
Hou Jin's deeds
Hou Jin, whose name is Zi Yu, was a self-taught person in Dunhuang, Gansu at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. At that time, he was dissatisfied with the dark politics in the period of Emperor Huan of Han Dynasty, stayed away from the officialdom, worked hard at night, and wrote dozens of essays such as Jiao Shi Lun. After years of studying at night, Hou Jin devoted himself to writing books and leaving behind valuable spiritual wealth to future generations. The story of Hou Jin's reading at night, together with the stories of hanging beam and stabbing stocks, Che Yin's Nangying and Sun Kangying Snow, was widely spread by later generations and became a model of success due to poor family background and hard work.
