May Day International Labor Day originated from the workers' strike in Chicago, USA.

1 May, 8861day, 2 168 16 workers in Chicago went on strike for the implementation of the eight-hour working system, and finally won after a hard and bloody struggle. To commemorate this great workers' movement, on July 1889 14, the socialist congress convened by Marxists from all over the world announced that May 1st of each year would be designated as International Labor Day. This decision immediately received a positive response from workers all over the world. 1 may, 8901day, the working class in Europe and America took the lead in taking to the streets, holding grand demonstrations and assemblies to fight for their legitimate rights and interests. From then on, working people from all over the world will gather and March on this day to celebrate and have a public holiday.

The Government Council of the Central People's Government of China made a decision on 1949 1 February, and designated May1day every year as Labor Day. After 1989, the State Council basically commended the national model workers and advanced workers every five years, and commended about 3,000 people each time.
