Onion Math was founded at the end of 2013 by Linfeng Yang, a graduate of Harvard University who majored in computer science, Ruochen Zhu, a graduate of Duke University who majored in bioscience, education, and psychology, and Nuoye Li, a former technology executive at Innovation Workshop's "Dim Sum OS". The company was co-founded.

Onion Math is an online tutoring product for elementary and middle school students, available in both APP and PC versions. Currently, it has launched math and physics courses for elementary, middle, and high school students, covering 12 versions of domestic textbooks. Each course is presented by animated videos and smart exercises of about 5-8 minutes. It makes personalized learning easy for primary and secondary school students.

Each lesson of Onion Math is collectively created by a teaching and research team of over 100 people, including famous school masters, key school master teachers and authoritative subject experts.

Onion Math has produced a series of video lessons (synchronized with the textbook) on the knowledge points in the national syllabus for primary and secondary school students. Each video explains and elaborates on one of the knowledge points in the syllabus in detail using interesting video language, and will be interspersed with practice questions to ensure that the students understand the concepts before continuing to watch the video until they fully grasp the content of the lesson. The videos also include post-course exercises and chapter tests, and any questions you get wrong will be automatically entered into the error book, making it easier for students to review the course in the future.
