Square paper, measure the distance of 1cm width on both sides of the long side with a ruler, and mark it with a pen. I don't have a ruler. I use Grandpa Bao's steel ruler as shown in the picture.
2. Then, use a knife without a blade (you can also use a pen) to draw a horizontal line compared with a ruler. At first, I wanted to leave 1cm on both sides, so I used a knife, but the knife was not optimistic. First, it took a long time, and second, it was unsightly. I switched to scissors, cut one side and left the other.
3. Choose a rectangular piece of paper and cut out a long piece of paper with a width of 2.5cm and a width of 1.5cm. Stick double-sided tape on the back of two long strips of paper. First, stick a 2.5cm wide strip of paper on the place where the large rectangular paper is cut into strips. Be patient in this step, and each strip should be glued tightly.
1.5cm wide strips are stuck on the uncut side of the large rectangular paper. Then fold both sides.
4. Roll up the paper to form a cylinder. As shown in the figure, the prototype of the lantern has come out.
Hand-made lanterns (handmade)
5. Cut out four pieces of paper shorter than the cylinder. What is it for? You can see from the picture that it is used to fix the lantern "mouth opening". The ends of the four pieces of paper are all glued with double-sided adhesive. First, they are glued in a cross shape from one end of the lantern, then the lantern is pressed down and the other end of the paper is glued to the lantern mouth.
