Alias Malan, Tianbianju and Shanbaiju

The source is Aster ageratoides Turcz, a plant of Aster genus in Compositae, and it is used as a whole herb. Harvest in summer and autumn, remove impurities and dry in the sun.

The taste is bitter, pungent and cold.

Functions: clearing away heat and toxic materials, inducing diuresis and stopping bleeding. Used for upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, tonsillitis, mumps, mastitis, hepatitis and urinary tract infection; External use for treating carbuncle and furuncle, traumatic bleeding.

Usage and dosage: 0.5 ~12, and fresh products are used externally to mash and apply to the affected area.

Remarks (1) There are still two varieties of this species in Jiangxi: one is Malan aster ageratoides Turkz. var. heterophyllus maxim.; The second is Malan aster ageratoides Turkz. var. laticorymbushand.-mazz. All of them are equally used as medicine.
